This 10W 30 high mileage synthetic blend is framed as a practical oil for older engines, especially Camrys and other non turbo, non supercharged setups. It is described as helping reduce oil burn in a high mileage 2AZ FE and as working fine on a 230k mile Camry with 5,000 mile changes. The main hesitation is that full synthetic is often viewed as the better long term choice for modern engines, especially when the price gap is small. A $5 Castrol rebate is also available, which softens the cost.

It really doesn't improve engine life. Regular oil changes do. Sticking to a conventional change rate of every 3k miles or 5k for synthetic will be the thing that makes your engine last longer. I have a 3800series 1 v6 with 258k miles. Never had anything but conventional changes every 3k miles with new filter.
Mobil1 Advanced Clean comes with study data to dispute this. Many timing chains can clog and lose calibrated tension even with 3,000 mile OCI. You can blame auto makers, but survivor bias is inferior to study data. Also using SQ oil helps in situatuons where you cannot nail 3,000 mile OCIs. Like Northern California where we have been averaging an annual disaster for the last decade.

Are you seriously adding natural disasters as a reason you cant meet a 3k mile interval... Ffs man. That's the most absurd excuse I ever hear. Literally not an excuse. 😂 You could change your oil I a Frakkin orielys parking lot or at a Walmart even if there was a natural disaster just driveaway from that are and then do it. Smh. Haha timing chains clogging? That's a new one. What a load a crap. You know timing chains run on a gear set? They don't clog. Psshh.. nonsense. Use whatever oil you want but keep the absurdities to yourself.

About a majority of the largest wildfires in state history happened in my backyard. A lot of US is in hurricane, snow, and wildfire country. People get sick. People have sudden urgent travel. It can easily add 1k or 2k to the odo. SQ oil helps there too.

The most absurd excuses ever.... You can literally drive to an oil change facility and get it done in ten. You can do it yourself anywhere in no time either. 😂 😂 😂 Ridiculous excuses.

I'm using synthetic blend on my 191263 mile 2AZ-FE, i4 04 Camry. It's leaking oil somewhere or just burning it off (engine known to burn oil), and i lose a quart of it every 3500 miles, when i used full synthetic, it burned off faster. now using some synthetic blend, and about 5 oz of oil additives, i don't lose a quart of synthetic oil as fast as i used to. Also, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, we don't have Costco, nearest Costco is in the downtown part of New Orleans or head East for Mobile, Alabama. So Costco is somewhat not everywhere and within a short drive like you think it would be.
My 04Camry had 230k miles and I always used blend every 5k miles... Never a problem... It maybe burned about 1/2 qt every 5k miles. Mine was a manual, dont know if that matters. Hate someone pulled out in front of my daughter. I miss that car

Why would someone buy a synthetic blend when Costco sells full synthetic at almost same price. Of course one will need a membership though. I think most cars mandates use of full synthetic.
10-30 is good for a lawn mower...not much difference between semi and full. Shipped to your house too. charge it every 5k and it doesn't matter what oil you use...expensive oil is a scam, better to change it more frequently than buy expensive oil

Do yourself a favor and just pay the few bucks more for full synthetic. Your engine will thank you many miles down the road.
it will? lol
