TSA.gov (Transportation Security Administration) is launching a limited-time "$20 Take Off" promotion for those under age 30, beginning May 1, 2026 for TSA PreCheck. Having a Known Travelers ID Number offers approved enrollees reduced wait times, expedited screening benefits and an improved checkpoint experience at selected airports.

Eligible travelers under 30 years old can save $20 off their first five-year membership to breeze through airport security. The offer is available through TSA PreCheck's three authorized enrollment providers, CLEAR, IDEMIA, and Telos.

TSA PreCheck "$20 Take Off" [tsa.gov]
Promotion Runs May 1-31, 2026
Ages 18-30 Years Old

Travelers can enroll at any of the 1,300 TSA PreCheck locations nationwide, including convenient retail stores in the community, not just at airports. With the promotion, the cost to enroll in TSA PreCheck would be reduced to between $56.75 and $65, depending on the selected enrollment provider. Minors 13-17 must be on the same airline reservation with a TSA PreCheck-eligible parent or guardian to receive expedited screening.

I mean I'm glad it applies to me but it's seriously ageist because of the bizarreness of it. What, they just randomly decided 30 is the cutoff because older people shouldn't get discounts or discourage older people from using precheck? Can someone explain the mentality behind this or it is 'just because we can' like evening else this administration does

If you're over 30 you probably should already have a credit card that would reimburse you for TSA Precheck. Fidelity card is free and has no annual fee

This is great for people without travel-forward CCs. But it's also weird. It's a government service...it probably shouldn't have a "sale". And, really, I'd recommend going full in for Global Entry. It's a little more work and expense, but international travel is one of the best ways to expand your horizon and - with the SD mentality - it's often no more expensive to fly internationally than it is to fly domestically (if you're flying for leisure).

i did a search and i've posted tsa sales before...one of them went frontpage. and on slickdeals, the percentage of "travel-forward" people is very, very, very small. not me though...travel is my hobby (i pay thousands in cc annual fees) and i feel like it should be everyone's hobby laugh out loud

There are dozens of CCs which reimburse TSA/Global Entry at full price...if you travel at all, and haven't gotten one...well, I'm really surprised you are on this website. Many of them are fairly low fee...and the perks the first year will more than compensate for the annual fee.

So the government doesn't have enough info on those under 30. Got it.

Karen won't be the one complaining since she's too busy screaming at kids from her home. It's Jennifer you'll have to worry about now.
