Hello all,

First time posting a deal. Best Buy dropped the price of "Fair" condition LG G5 55" TVs down to $738.99 AND they're including a $100 gift card, which makes this around $638.99. This is an incredible deal for one of the best TVs on the planet! Thought some gamers looking for a midsize TV would be happy with this deal! If you have Best Buy Total Membership, you get 2 free years of warranty including burn-in protection (which is a non-issue IMHO).

Enjoy!

This open box LG G5 55 inch OLED deal stands out for a very low price with a $100 gift card, and the panel itself can look excellent when the unit is in good shape. Several pickups came with low hours, clean screens, and usable remotes or wall mounts, and the G5 brightness was praised as a big upgrade. The main risk is condition roulette, with some display units showing 5,000 to 6,000 hours, missing accessories, or visible burn in. Checking hours and powering it on in store is the safest way to judge whether the specific unit is worth the trip.

Common Questions (5)

  • Around 5,000 to 6,000 hours is a common cutoff for concern, especially on display models that ran at full brightness all day. Units with roughly 1,500 to 2,200 hours have been kept, while 5,850 to 6,202 hours often triggered returns or passes.

  • Accessories vary by condition: Fair units may be missing the remote, stand, wall mount, or box, while Good units have been reported with the original remote and wall mount sealed in packaging. Some pickups also included a stand, but others arrived with none of those extras.

  • Pixel cleaning can reduce minor image retention or demo-related splotching, and one unit's red splotches cleared after a cleaning cycle. It does not reliably fix true burn-in, so checking a gray field or burn-in test before cleaning is the safer way to judge the panel.

  • Yes. Staff can power it on so you can check hours, burn-in, and missing parts before leaving, which helps avoid hauling home a display unit with no remote, stand, or obvious panel damage.

  • Yes, the deal includes a $100 gift card, and it can arrive by email before you even leave the store. The card was also shown in-cart and as a usable balance, so it is not just a placeholder promo.

Are these mostly display models they're getting rid of or is anyone finding any that aren't run into the ground with thousands of hours?

I really rolled the dice. Store computer said 2 fair condition in stock. Well was display model wrapped on bubble wrap poorly. No remote no stand (which I think none come with?)
They found a compatible remote missing the back it did look great but taking this home flat on just giant outdoor lounge cushion was scary. NYC roads horrible after the big snow this year.
I don't like wall mount. I ordered Amazon stand and do have vesa stand that probably would hold this too but not sure I want that.
3440 hrs, no stand/wall mount/glue residue from display model signage on size bezel, working but wrong remote missing back.
Order stand for $35, correct remote $25. Store staff was confused why I bought for price. I'm going with SD collective gut that this might be worth it. I can't stand low quality pictures of cheaper TV than can't even beat my vintage plasma to my eyes.

I just returned it. It was surprisingly easy and quick.
Once I got it on stand and used it some today I could notice what looked like burn in circles on certain sky images. I then ran YouTube test patterns and it looked like some white dirty spots were showing.
I don't know if any of this is technically correct. I didn't think oleds would have burn in even at 3,000 hours and the brightness was still insane.
Really a great television. It kind of convinced me to buy the LG C series OLED

Anyone use 55 inch TV as a work monitor/gaming set up?
I'm currently using a 55" C5 as my desk monitor and love it! For computer use, I sit 40" away. For movies, I scoot back to about 5 feet.
I used to have a 43", then went to 48" C4, and feel 55" is the sweet spot where I can still read text easily from my normal typing position.

Called my local Best Buy to confirm the condition before placing the order. The agent said it was missing the remote, stand (which is expected for a G5 I believe), and original packaging but that it had been repackaged in a new box. I placed the order.I get to the store and there's no box. The employee that helped me flat out said customer service is overseas and they do this constantly where they lie about the condition of the things in store.
You have not had the capability to call a specific Best Buy store for about 2 years nowYou are routed to their customer service departmentWith open box items it's always best to just make a trip to the storeIf you are too far away for that to work then the deal is not for you

Picked mine up yesterday. It was a display model wrapped in bubble wrap. No remote or mount. 6202 hours on it. I'm going to return it. That's way too many hours.

Same here, bought it, I drove 30 minutes to the closest store that had one and no stand, no remote, bubble wrap and store display, didn't even bother turning it on to see how many hours. The consensus on Reddit was say no to Oled in-store display. I'm seeing a ton of 65" C5 open box inventory in my neck of the woods, hopefully they start discounting those

My local best buy has this tv, fair open box, for $836.99 and no gift card. Why are there so many of this model as fair condition open box?

local best buy had a fair condition for $739 + a $100 gift card. I called and the notes said the TV was missing the stand and remote but no damage. Bought a remote off ebay for $20 and gonna use the $100 gift card to buy the official LG stand for $99 at Best Buy. Insane deal!!

Same as others. Went to pick it up but it was the store display with no remote or wall mount. Too bad as it was a good deal. Oh well.

Good pricing if it's available in your local store.

My bought when brand new B4 has more hours on it than that. It still looks as good as new. What condition was yours? Good and excellent should come with the remote since that's essential.

What condition was yours? Fair might not include any accessories, like the remote but good and excellent should come with it.

My c2 has more hours and is fine
My 77" B2 had like 3600 hours on it when I got it over a year and 1/2 go, it's been flawless.

Floor sample, $999 out the door. Remote but, no stand. $40 on amazon, had the next day perfect...

Love this dam TV....

waste of time. bought 2 (an hour drive apart, was going to keep the better one) and both came with no remote, no wall mount, obv no box, and ~6k hours on each with awful burn in. unusable

i promised myself years ago never again best buy, but got greedy trying to score a deal. never again (for real this time lol)
