Hello all,

First time posting a deal. Best Buy dropped the price of "Fair" condition LG G5 55" TVs down to $738.99 AND they're including a $100 gift card, which makes this around $638.99. This is an incredible deal for one of the best TVs on the planet! Thought some gamers looking for a midsize TV would be happy with this deal! If you have Best Buy Total Membership, you get 2 free years of warranty including burn-in protection (which is a non-issue IMHO).

Enjoy!

This open box LG G5 55 inch OLED deal stands out for a very low price with a $100 gift card, and the panel itself can look excellent when the unit is in good shape. Several pickups came with low hours, clean screens, and usable remotes or wall mounts, and the G5 brightness was praised as a big upgrade. The main risk is condition roulette, with some display units showing 5,000 to 6,000 hours, missing accessories, or visible burn in. Checking hours and powering it on in store is the safest way to judge whether the specific unit is worth the trip.

Add me to the list that got burned by Best Buy Open Box. I drove an hour to get there and an hour to drive back. I pretty much knew it was a no go when I saw it sitting there on the floor with not enough bubble wrap wrapped around it. Sure enough there was no remote or wall mount. It took a while but they found a LG remote for me to use to check it out. I checked the hours and it was over 6000. Which really didn't put me off since the LG OLED I have has more and looks like new. But the burn in was pretty obvious. I had to pass.

But I'm OK with it. I had to try. Since it would have been a lottery win if it had worked out. I'm not going to gamble again on a store so far away. Unless it's local, it's not worth it.

I agree and I bought and setup last night. I'm not sure if I'll return and just get microcenter refurbished C5. Not sure I really need the brightness or really flush wall mount.

The g5 does look excellent. The $30 mount came early morning is quite good and easy to setup.

My bought when brand new B4 has more hours on it than that. It still looks as good as new. What condition was yours? Good and excellent should come with the remote since that's essential.
You really need to.consoder the type of hours. These TVs are on full brightness all day, every day. They mass hours much more quickly than yours and they are paying the same video on loop, which really stresses the pixels and also why a lot of these already have burn in. It's the difference between a car with 150k miles on that that was taken care of and had regular maintenance vs a car with 150k miles, but the owner drove it like they stole it. On paper, they sound the same, but in reality they are worlds apart.

I picked mine up from a store about an hour away. TV came with a stand (even though there is a sticker on the stand that says stand sold separately), the wall mount and the remote. Unfortunately it also had 5850 hours and some burn in. I am a Bestbuy total member so I am wondering if i should keep it for now and then escalating this to BestBuy later on. Don't know if burn in is covered under warranty.

Just picked up a "good" condition one.

1,500 hours, came with original remote and wall mount all sealed. Bubble wrapped. Pretty happy, thinking I'll keep it.

65' is available at Microcenter if you live around one for $899.00 (refurb) (remember somebody wishing there was a deal on that size).

Can you try a pixel clean and see if that fixes the burn in? I was tempted to try that in store to see if it fixed it on the one I bought, but it wasn't the right environment for it. Since I'm assuming it would be the long one and take an hour.

That's the C5 and not the G5.

You got lucky. Mine was also a "good" but really should have been a "fair".

Got a display model with 6000 hours on it. They had it running on vivid all year basically. It said it needed pixel cleaning after turning it on to test and then said it needed to do it again. The picture otherwise seems fine. Will LG warranty this thing if it conks out?

That was me on Thursday but I had to try it as well. You win some and lose some. Ended up buying a 65 inch b5 from Costco for 799

I ran it and it took about 10ish minutes to run. Noticing a minor improvement but could be a placebo effect.

Have you checked for burn in? Even a burned in monitor looks pretty good normally. If you display a grey field, do you see any burn in? There are YT videos that do this to make it easy. It would have been great to know if you had any visible burn in doing it this way before the pixel cleaning. To see if the pixel cleaning would have fixed it.
