Anything requiring a driver probably won't work. You may get lucky with a basic device like a webcam that typically uses built-in Windows drivers. I don't believe the emulators work on drivers at all.
As far as emulated x86 and x64 programs, a lot of smaller programs work fine. Multi-gigabyte programs like Solidworks don't stand a chance. Turbotax doesn't work. Fusion 360 kind of works, some modules just don't work or crash the program, others work fine. There are a lot of websites that list programs as ARM compatible, but for some reason many of these simply don't work and I don't know what these websites get out of adding them to the list.
I suggest buying a Snapdragon laptop as a toy. See what works, what doesn't, what the advantages and disadvantages are. Ask software suppliers for nice compatible and efficient ARM versions of their programs. Do not expect to buy one of these as a replacement for an x86/x64 computer, at least not for a while. Apple switched everything to ARM. Microsoft is pushing toward ARM. ARM is the future, but it's not the present.
PS: This site actually takes you to ARM compatible download pages, it doesn't just say things work on ARM.

This Yoga Slim 7x stands out as a thin, light Windows laptop with excellent battery life, a gorgeous 14 inch OLED touch screen, and strong everyday responsiveness. It is praised for office work, web browsing, streaming, and light creative tasks, with some reports that DaVinci Resolve, Photoshop, Steam, and even a few games run well. The main caution is Windows on ARM compatibility, especially for drivers, printers, USB peripherals, niche apps, and some developer tools. It feels best suited to general use and portability, not demanding software or hardware-heavy workflows.
Common Questions (5)
Small x86/x64 apps often run fine, and native ARM apps like DaVinci Resolve can work well. Larger or driver-heavy software can fail or crash, and GPU-dependent tools such as some photo/video editors may be hit-or-miss, so it is safer for everyday productivity than for specialized creative or engineering workloads.
It is a strong fit for web, email, Office, streaming, and other normal productivity, and several owners use it as a MacBook Air replacement. It is a weaker choice for developers, niche engineering apps, gaming, or hardware that depends on special drivers, so those users may be better off staying with x86.
Basic USB devices can work, but anything that needs a custom driver may not. A Canon MF634Cdw scanner/printer reportedly works with basic functionality, while an external webcam and other driver-dependent devices may not, so peripherals are the main compatibility risk.
Yes. Owners describe battery life as excellent, with one reporting about 12 hours on a Slim 3x and others calling the standby battery life wonderful and the battery life insanely good. It is one of the strongest reasons to buy this ARM model.
For light everyday use it can be fine, but heavier ARM Windows use may feel sluggish with 16GB, especially because the memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded later. One owner specifically said they would want 32GB for smoother performance.

Just read what IT professionals say about current Windows on ARM devices.

x86 is just dead for laptops. and its for good reason.

And even if it were 2x… since when does "costs more" prove a platform is better? A Mac Pro costs 4x a Mac Mini. By your logic everyone buying the Mini is dumb.
The "<1% installed base" line is also doing a lot of work. Apple Silicon was 0% in 2019 and is now the dominant ARM PC platform on the planet. Canalys projects ARM at ~30% of total PC shipments by end of 2026. Snapdragon X2 Elite is reviewing 24% ahead of Intel Panther Lake on single-core. Today's snapshot isn't the trend.
Maybe lay off the 🤣 and read past the price tag.
The couple caveats I'll say is that Lenovo has had some weird issues with the GPU drivers where you can render an x86 application with no effort, but decoding YouTube videos would stutter and drop every few frames. They seem to have fixed it, and I think this was exclusive to something Lenovo did with this device. The other one is that when I was hacking a Switch, the libusbK driver did not work with Win on ARM. I needed to grab an older x86 device to finish that job. In general? as long as you're a touch tech-y, this is a really good deal. If not, stick with x86 for a little longer.
