It's painful to watch memory and NVMe prices go up 400%, for a community of people who tend to squabble and wait to buy so they can save 10-20%. Who in this chat isn't kicking themselves for not upgrading sooner?
Then decided .... I don't REALLY need this. I have a 5900x based system and another 12700k from almost 4 years ago (2022?) I'm still trying to find a use for. After a few hours, the impulse subsided and I saved nearly $800!

This bundle pairs Intel's Ultra 7 270K Plus with a Gigabyte Z890 board and 32GB of DDR5, and the strongest takeaway is its productivity muscle for the price. The chip is described as top tier for multi threaded work, very fast in single thread, and still decent for gaming, with the board seen as solid and the RAM discount helping the value. Power draw can reach 250W and cooling may need attention for heavy all core renders, while the motherboard is not considered especially overclocking friendly. It feels like a strong all around build kit if you want Intel performance without paying flagship prices.
The bundle has been reported as available in Houston and after restocks in New York stores.
The bundle pairs a top-performing productivity CPU with a decent motherboard for everyday workloads and gaming.
The CPU can reach strong Cinebench 23 results after pairing with an MSI Z890 motherboard.
The CPU is reported to use about 250W, which can help with planning power and cooling.
The bundle value can be weaker than some AM5 alternatives, even though Intel is catching up.
The motherboard selection in MicroCenter bundles may not match the boards shoppers want, which can limit upgrade flexibility.
The motherboard in the bundle is described as not very overclocking-worthy, which may restrict tuning options.
MicroCenter return policy reportedly requires returning the entire bundle, which can complicate partial changes.

Microcenter's $600 AM5 bundle is a 7800x3D, with slower RAM, and a worse motherboard chipset+features.
270k+ is TWICE as fast as a 7800x3D in multi-thread, +40% faster in single thread, and gaming performance is essentially equal. Yes AM5 will probably see one last gen, but most people dont upgrade CPUs often, and the performance difference today is simply too large.
update: I cranked this thing up to 46646 cinebench 23.
