It's painful to watch memory and NVMe prices go up 400%, for a community of people who tend to squabble and wait to buy so they can save 10-20%. Who in this chat isn't kicking themselves for not upgrading sooner?
Then decided .... I don't REALLY need this. I have a 5900x based system and another 12700k from almost 4 years ago (2022?) I'm still trying to find a use for. After a few hours, the impulse subsided and I saved nearly $800!

Microcenter's $600 AM5 bundle is a 7800x3D, with slower RAM, and a worse motherboard chipset+features.
270k+ is TWICE as fast as a 7800x3D in multi-thread, +40% faster in single thread, and gaming performance is essentially equal. Yes AM5 will probably see one last gen, but most people dont upgrade CPUs often, and the performance difference today is simply too large.
