The River 3 Plus with EB600 is a compact backup power station setup that fits small spaces and can keep networking gear, a DVR, or a computer running for days. It also has fast switchover, portable use, and enough surge headroom for some refrigerator startup loads. The main concerns are the refurbished battery's unknown health, the modest 572Wh expansion battery, and the relatively small 600W inverter with 220W solar input. Pricing also looks close to new alternatives, which makes the value harder to justify.
Common Questions (5)
The refurb is hard to justify when a new EcoFlow Delta 3 1 kWh bundle with a 220 W panel is available for about $600, and a new River 3 Plus has been seen for $339 elsewhere. The River 3 Plus bundle also has lower capacity and lower specs than those alternatives.
It can handle some refrigerators, but a compressor startup in the high 1 kW range may trip it. A 12-year-old fridge with about a 550 W startup demand should be within its 1200 W peak rating, while a side-by-side fridge is less likely to run for 6 hours on this setup.
Yes, it can cover low-power home networking and computer gear, and one setup is expected to keep router, Wi‑Fi, DVR, and a computer running for about 3 days. It also has a faster switchover time than many units, which makes it more suitable as a backup than a standard power bank.
The EB600 expansion battery is 572 Wh, not 572,000 Wh. Combined with the main unit, the setup totals about 858 Wh.
Refurbished batteries may not come with a guaranteed maximum capacity, and prior storage temperature, state of charge, and abuse can affect health. LiFePO4 cells can have many cycles, but the actual condition of a used battery is not knowable upfront.
