Looks like the Dragonlance Anthology collection is only $18ish. Pretty solid deal on both books. I remember these fondly from being a teen.

Thank you! My kid just finished Lord of the Rings and asked for Game of Thrones. Saw this post and was curious and did some research. Looks like a great series! The order of reading says to start with Dragonlance Chronicles, which is currently on sale as well for $18.49 on Amazon so I grabbed both.

This is one of the best Fantasy series, if your kid liked Lord of the Rings definitely will love Dragonlance Chronicles. Other series that you can look is Icewind Dale Trilogy (Drizzt Do'Urden series)

I'd suggest the Shannara books by Terry Brooks as well. I started reading Tolkien, Weis and Hickman, and Brooks in middle school. I was introduced to Salvatore (suggested above) a few years later and have read 40+ of his books (both his main Drizzt books as well as his various other series). If you kid likes the Dragonlance books, Weis and Hickman wrote a few one-off trilogies and a seven book series that are definitely worth the read. Your kid can't so wrong with any of these as a fantasy fan. Game of Thrones is great, assuming you can deal with the unfinished series (in print), but the content is much more mature for whatever that's worth.

The most important books of my adolescence. I remember reading these on the bus to intermediate school every morning. I saw this and thought "I know I still have these somewhere; they're probably deep in some box under the stairs." Then I turned around and sure enough all six books are right behind me on the bookshelf, just haven't noticed them in awhile. I guess they were too important to me to ever pack away.

I wish they re-released the paperback editions with the Larry Elmore covers for both Chronicles and Legends.

Definitely start with Chronicles, then Legends. Chronicles is one of my favorite series. I find myself going back to reread. I'm not sure if the price is a great deal, but the books themselves are fantastic. Highly recommend gettin them.

Third party seller probably found an OOP copy and is trying to turn a fat profit.
