The Flint 3e is a Wi Fi 7 router with GL.iNet's custom OpenWrt based firmware and a strong firewall, aimed at buyers who want newer wireless features in a compact home router. The Qualcomm CPU and MLO support are called out as positives, and the tri band version is described as especially capable for broader coverage. The main concerns are weaker OpenWrt support than the Flint 2, possible long term support questions, and reports of poor Wi Fi on the three band model. Checkout pricing also appears inconsistent, with totals ranging from about $117 to $146.

Good router, but a big step down from what the Flint 2 was. You get newer tech such as WiFi 7, but a slower processor and you lose a lot of OpenWRT support with the inferior Broadcom chipset that they used on the 3 series. Give and take. Personally I bought and prefer the older version (2).

I have the 3 band version of this and wifi is garbage. Check glinet forums. If you don't care about wifi, flint 2 is a better product.

You must not be familiar with this brand, it's one of the best routers and their routers have a custom open-wrt firmware. I would trust it more than tp-link and such

As I understand it, the 3 series will not be supported as it uses a proprietary OS and the manufacturer doesn't have a history of supporting its devices. You're better off getting the 2 series or another maker that supports OpenWRT, especially with AI assisting hackers in the near future. If you insist on getting the 3, get the tri-band version.

What are you smoking? I have the 3 band version and its awesome!! If the wifi were really garbage, it would be all over the Internet long ago. 90% of households don't have 6 GHz and most don't have 5 GHz but you can combine via MLO. A really great Firewall.

Will this be sufficient for a 3000 sqft single storey home if I place it centrally? Currently rocking a Netgear nighthawk triband r7960p which works great for my situation but it's at the end of life in terms of Netgear firmware updates. Happy to wait for better deals if needed perhaps around Thanksgiving. Internet speed is only 300mbps so no concern there
