The LG C5 OLED is better than the Sony BRAVIA 8 OLED. The LG is brighter in SDR, making it better suited for a bright room. The LG is also brighter in HDR and it's the more accurate TV, so it provides a more impactful HDR experience that stays closer to the filmmaker's intent. Finally, the LG is more versatile for gamers due to its four HDMI 2.1 ports and support for 144Hz.

this deal yesterday. The picture on my 2018 LG 65 inch OLED is still outstanding. Delivery and installation in 7 days. Definitely a Slickdeal!
They released updated Bravia 8 II line for the 65" and smaller models with QD-OLED panels.
For the 77" they instead released the Bravia 8B, which is worse than the older Bravia 8.
C5 is better than the Bravia 8 in terms of brightness SDR/HDR. The Bravia 8 will upscale HD/SD content a bit better, and I personally prefer the GoogleTV OS on the Bravia 8.
