I like the irony of having to disable Adguard to click the link to w00t. Wink

I've used AdGuard for years and I can't imagine going back to an unprotected state. Ads are so omnipresent and annoying.

That's not Woot it's blocking, it's blocking the stupid SD affiliate link to get their commission

I have a lifetime sub but haven't bothered with the app for my Android devices in years because DNS is easier and less glitchy. IIRC the app had some better adblocking for other apps that used HTTPS to serve ads by running as a local VPN, but that also meant it wouldn't work if you wanted to use a different VPN, plus it would randomly stop working without any error messages and cause all net traffic to fail until it was restarted. It's possible they've made it more stable, and from the screenshots it looks like you get finer-grained control over what's blocked, but I've never needed that.

I got adguard but bought my cheap lifetime license through groupon or something like that. It would be much better to buy through woot. That being said, I only really use it on my ipad and iphone. I wouldn't put this on my PC where uBlock Origin works so much better on Firefox.

The DNS doesn't allow customization of blocking. And for an android device, adguard acts as a firewall. Iirc, there are some trackers that still bypass the set DNS.

But if you're mainly worried about blocking ads, not so worried about trackers, and/or don't have an Android, then using the free DNS will likely work just fine for your use case

I put this on my PC, to protect all apps and browsers, and removed uBlock Origin in Firefox, which is my primary browser, since it is now redundant. I still use NoScript in Firefox. I also have this on my Android phone and tablet, where Firefox is also my primary browser.
