Be careful with these systems. I had the jax jox interactive home gym. While I liked using it, the company shut down and went MIA. They kept taking the $40 fee and there was no way to contact them. I had to contact the bank to get them to stop it.
FWIW, this does seem absurdly expensive but as laid out is better than that DIY system you could lay out...but never will.
I already have a DIY pendelton which is a stationary bike in front of TV. All I need to do is move the bike and put in its place a bench and some resistance bands. It would take 2 minutes.
Was doing some research on this system and be careful. There are reports of the system autospot disengaging the weight resistance mid rep and suddenly reactivating again which can cause injury.
edit: alot of these smart gyms require constant internet connection to function properly as well.
