This EGO 8000 series mower stands out for strong cutting power, self propulsion, and a dual blade setup that feels like a real upgrade over the base model. The 7.5Ah battery is often described as good for roughly 30 to 60 minutes, with fast charging around 40 minutes, and the mower handles thick grass, weeds, and even wet lawns better than expected. The main cautions are weight and battery longevity, since it is still a heavy machine and runtime drops in dense or tall grass. A practical pick for medium yards if you value electric convenience and can work within the battery limits.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, the extra battery can reportedly be returned when bought through Amazon, and several buyers received refunds in the roughly $212-$232 range. That can lower the net cost a lot if you already have batteries or only need the mower.

  • Runtime is about 40 minutes with the 7.5Ah battery in typical use, and one report says a 7.5Ah battery covers about 1/4 acre on level ground with 3-4 inch grass. A 5Ah battery is reported to last about 30 minutes, while a 10Ah battery can handle roughly 1/3 acre of wet grass.

  • It can cut thick grass well, including thick St. Augustine, but wet or very tall grass can cause problems. One report says it jams 3-4 times per mow in very thick grass, while another says cutting high first and then lower the next week helps.

  • With a single 7.5Ah battery, it is reported to handle about 1/4 acre on level ground with manual pushing and medium-height grass. For larger yards, one owner says a 7.5Ah battery covers the front yard and about a quarter of the back before swapping to a spare.

  • This listing is the 8000 series, not the base 6000 model. It has more torque and a dual-blade system, which is a meaningful upgrade over the base version.

You can return the battery for $212. And then sell the 7.5ah for like $150. Reasonably easy solution and you'll never see the bare mower that cheap.
Which store is refunding $212 for the battery? I see $152 at Lowe's if you can get it returned there, but $212 would be very tempting

Edit: Nevermind, Lowes is now showing $218 for me, will definitely snag it at that price if I can get that to refund.

I don't know if the fire risk is more or less valid but the amp hour lie they always seem to tell in the listing and on the label, that would be my primary concern. Paying for 5ah and receiving 1.5 if you're lucky, that seems to be a common theme with cheap batteries. I would first question the cells.... Who makes them? If Panasonic or Samsung then hope and pray they are real and not cheap knock-offs. I have the 10ah battery which is almost the cost of this entire mower deal, and there is no way in hell it's worth that! So when I need a replacement, I don't care what name is on the pack, I only care about final price and who manufactures the cells inside the pack.
But that's just my nickle worth of opinion.
edit: Most recently I bought an expensive no-name battery for my Shark vacuum. It was supposed to have good brand name cells. It was supposed to be a 3500mah replacement for my OEM 2350mah. How can it be 3500mah and not be able to clean the exact same room that my OEM 2350 battery does? Somewhere, somebody is lying! I did complain, I did offer proof, and I did end up getting that battery for free. Squeaky wheels get the grease. But what is your time worth to you?

At least this comes with two batteries, but i would caution against this mower as it is easily the purchase I regret the most. The batteries barely last a month past their warranty and if you factor in the cost of a $150/$200 battery every three years, you come out way ahead with a traditional gas mower
I have been using mine for 7 years now i have had no issues, my 5Ah battery lasts for a 30 min sessions and I use self propel quiet a bit. My guess is the newer batteries are not as well built as they used to.

Have an ego mower myself, they run great haven't had any issues yet. Had it for about 4 years now. Good price point as I got mine from Ace for about 800.

Bought this exact deal last year, from Amazon.

I returned the extra battery and I have not needed a second (even with mowing the yard, swapping to my weed wacker, and blower).

Okay enough deal for $450, after returning the extra battery. A gas mower is vastly superior, I keep my grass decently high (setting 6 on this) and it's extremely thick, this mower jams up 3-4 times a mow versus my old gas Johndeere.
Sounds like you are cutting way more than 1/3rd of the blade. Thats why your mower is jamming up

Are you talking about buying from Lowe's and returning or Amazon deal?

I placed my order through Amazon, but I would imagine both would honor it. And I say this because this is the same thing people do with the BOGO tool deals during Black Friday.

Anyway, I returned my extra battery today from Amazon and received an after-tax refund of $232.81.

Do you just go in the app to do a return or do you have to reach out to customer service chat?

Can confirm it works. Bought online picked up in store and immediately returned battery before leaving no questions asked. $230 back taxes included

Battery powered lawnmower? How long is the stock battery good for? I got one acre grass field to trim. Not sure this is for me
1 acre with a push mower of any kind is not for me.
