Current battery prices are inflated by tariffs and a weak dollar, keeping value at a 4x-5x ratio when it should be 8x watt-per-dollar.
1. Chemistry Hierarchy:
LTO: Best for stability (20k cycles) but heavy; ideal for homes.
LFP & Sodium-Ion: The only real contenders for EVs. NiMH and standard Li-ion are obsolete and should be phased out of cars and phones.
Sodium-Ion: Better than LFP for power stations due to higher cycles, despite the larger size.
current still new so sodium ion is still more expensive.
2. Market Failure:
The U.S. lags in battery tech, forcing consumers to pay for low-cycle, "disposable" tech. While companies use AI to cut jobs, they simultaneously block DIY repairs.
3. The DIY Solution:
Building it yourself costs only 20% of what manufacturers charge. Consumers are being overcharged for inferior tech while the best chemistries for EV/PHEV stability are ignored by the industry.
