I have had success (and others) with this south korea selling on ebay, fast shipping, no surprises: https://www.ebay.com/str/102store00 and I would not do aliexpress if the price difference is only small.

I looked into these Aliexpress Mini 5 pro deals every time the price dropped into this range, and every time decided it is too risky, because of their disclaimer. All of the Mini 5 listings have disclaimers that the box will be opened and drone registered! I frequently order from Aliexpress, but have never seen this.
This is from the current listing:
"It is absolutely brand new and unused, because we will unbox, activate and re-seal it."
If the seller registers/activates it, the access to that account and the drone will be compromised. I tried chatting with their customer service to discuss this but they were useless.

They change the language to English, I ordered a OSMO Pocket 3 back in March and it was also resealed but it was brand new and it wasn't registered.

What "compromise" are you worried about? First off, I literally never have to connect mine to the internet or a computer, the photos/video are saved to an SD card. Second, do you really think some random Ali seller is out here making custom firmware to compromise some toy drones?

I have bought from that seller and decided to cancel because the lito x1 cannot be registered in the US and they refunded me immediately. Id trust ebay over alliexpress anyday.

Casual use and a budget Id go with the Lito 1. Cheaper, good enough cameras in good light, obstacle avoidance, etc. This kit has no extra batteries and the crappy controller. You could do better with the Lito off eBay. I just looked. 800 bucks on eBay gets you 3 batteries and the RC2 and the X1.

Aliexpress has been terrible for claims lately. I had something show up with missing parts and it's been a struggle trying to get any kind of resolution from them.

I think a better question is why would any seller spend their labor(i.e. money) to open each drone pkg to do something with it, and then they cannot explain why they are doing it. Obviously there is some benefit to them, whether they reprogram it, or register the drone with DJI, or introduce a way to track it, but they derive a benefit somehow. For me, once a product pkg is unsealed before I receive it, it is no longer new.

Changing the language setting can be done by the customer, there is no need for the seller to open the package to change the language setting. I am glad that you were happy with your purchase, but I am suspicious when sellers open packages as a matter of policy, for no discernible reason.
