Once we left for a two week vocation, and I couldn't believe that I left charger at home. Anyways, I ended up using a regular usb cable and splinting the ends. I liked that set up so much, that when I came back home, I did a proper conversion, a foot long usb cable with no power brick, and I've being using it for years now.

I had one and threw it away. Just more hassle to cleanup. You can rinse the razor and mostly I just use the small brush becuse moisture tends to get inside on my years old razors.
Same, good till the cleaning solution lasts,(which is not cheap), than it just takes up space.

I'm sporting a full beard now, but this was the razor I had settled on as best before I quit shaving.

Is the station worth getting?
The models like this that aren't sold with a cleaning station lack the charging contact pads on the back of the handle, so they won't charge from base.

They do have models with Type-C ports, but they only offer a couple of them in the U.S. There is a wider selection in Japan, but those models can't be used as corded shavers, which at least some users desire.

The Type-A to Panasonic plug adapter cables work fine, if that is available. They at last relieve the need to lug around the original wall adapter.

This piece [shavercheck.com] touches upon those characteristics.

I got this one recently at the same price quoted in this deal. Its pretty decent one. however it takes as much time and so many passes against the grain to achieve a smooth shave as it would with a normal razor, only difference being, I can do a dry shave with the Arc 5. Even after all that time, I feel its at 90% compared to the normal manual razor. Is it how its supposed to work?

I find myself to have the same issue. I use my arc5 and then follow with a safety razor. Honestly my bodygroom trims better but i have a very light hair.

Just curious, this vs oneblade pro. any comments on which ones best for every day close shave? TIA
This one will shave a bit closer since it's a foil shaver, however there's way more work involved in maintaining this razor than oneblade

Just use Q-Tips to clean it.

Yeah, I have this one and the Braun series 9 and neither one of them shave as close as a razor.
