As for whether or not you'd need the 262 that's a pretty big step up in price and imo it'd make more sense to buy this set at $99 then if/when you need more then go out to buy only the specific extras you require. The main additions of the 262 seems to be 2 more sets of hex keys at a different length and spark plug sockets. The $99 kit covers practically all standard use cases though and there is a little bit of spare room to add to it, things just might not be as neat and tidy as when the kit is designed to hold it all from factory. Also neither kit has any pliers. Use the difference to get some pliers instead.

Key Differences
- Tool Assortment: The 242-Piece Set generally includes more deep-well sockets and a larger variety of specialty bits, making it better suited for complex automotive work where reaching recessed bolts is common.
- Storage System: Both use the VERSASTACK system, meaning they can lock onto other CRAFTSMAN toolboxes. However, the 242-piece set often features a more robust drawer-locking mechanism to keep tools from shifting during transport.
- Ratchet Design: Both kits feature 72-tooth ratchets with a 5° arc swing, allowing you to work in tight spaces. The 242-piece set often includes "low profile" heads on all three drive sizes, whereas some versions of the 230-piece set only feature low-profile heads on the smaller drives.
RecommendationIf you are looking for a primary tool kit to keep in your garage or vehicle for almost any repair, the CRAFTSMAN 242-Piece Set is the better value due to the higher piece count and more comprehensive socket range. However, if you already have a collection of tools and just need a highly organized, stackable base, the 230-Piece Set provides all the essentials at a typically lower price point.
Would you like me to check if there are any specific missing tool sizes in either set that you frequently use, like specific metric or SAE wrenches?

Ive used the one in this thread for work around the house, car etc. and while I have older sets laying around, this is all stored in one convenient place.
Ps the one you posted is think head ratchets as opposed to this set. Better for tighter fit when working on cars and other tight places.
The other one industrysc talks about does not have a break down, just total of each.
