I never use magsafe charging in a car, only slow USB charging. Quite often the phone is in direct light plus I'm using GPS. Magsafe charging combined with those other two factors is just too much heat.

I have one of these I use on trips. Folds down small enough that I can throw it in my carry on and use it in the rental cars.

Just out of curiosity, do you use anything to cover the suction cup so that the "nano-glue" doesn't get on everything in your carryon?

From the reviews and videos, seems like this suctions on patterned dashboards. Been wanting one that doesn't need a flat base, so giving this a shot.

I actually have the exact same use case (pop it on to my rental cars) and I kept the original circular piece of plastic that was on it when I originally opened the box. Has lasted for four business trips now, and still going strong. Sorry if I sound like a shill, but this is actually the best windshield mount I've found, and I've tried three or four over the years, I'm in a different rental car just about every week. Just wish I would have waited for this sale, I bought mine at full price.

FYI - This one looks to be the old switcheroo -- they re-purposed an older listing (for charging cables) to swap this product in while keeping those older reviews. Newer reviews are for the current product, but seem very infomercial'ish and fake. Not saying it doesn't work, but very YMMV

Worked for me - Amazon codes are just tricky, especially if you're using the app. Make sure that after you enter the code, you click the "Enter" button to the right.. if you just press Continue (or whatever its called) it will skip the code entirely
