I try to leave this whenever these come up. Yes they will probably smell. What I have done with success. Is wipe them down. Use a bit of soap and warm/hot water if needed. Dry well let them sit in the sun for a couple days. No more smell and I've had a number of sets from this brand. At $0.68 lbs not a bad deal. In fact generally pretty good but not the best they have had in recent past iirc.

I try to leave this whenever these come up. Yes they will probably smell. What I have done with success. Is wipe them down. Use a bit of soap and warm/hot water if needed. Dry well let them sit in the sun for a couple days. No more smell and I've had a number of sets from this brand. At $0.68 lbs not a bad deal. In fact generally pretty good but not the best they have had in recent past iirc.

Be prepared all those plates from them always come scratched and blemishes but their weights to be banged up oh well

Even if you get perfect ones out of the box from Walmart, the colored plates get really scuffed up bad after using them for a while, especially if you drag them around, drop them, or roll them, especially on a hard floor. Which is okay, weight is weight, just don't expect them to look perfect after a few months of use.

I've found that the black ones from Walmart hold up much better cosmetically, as far as scuffs, scratches, and blemishes. So if someone is really OCD about perfect looking plates, then go for the black ones over the colored ones. (when they are on sale of course, right now the price is high on the black ones).

what I did was leave them in the boxes in the garage for over a year while I collected the rest of my home gym. (work has a $200 a year fitness reimbursement so I have been buying piecemeal for the last 5 years) finally took them out yesterday and honestly kind of disappointed it didn't have the notorious smell.

Mine still smell about 1.5 years after buying, but it's not very noticeable I find unless you stack them up or they get wet.

Spray them down with plenty of dawn powerwash and leave out in the sun for a week. They still smell
