A surprisingly large amount of no fly zones in my area. All state and national parks are off limits. Anything relatively close to airports. Even some city's have city wide no fly zones. There are online maps that show all the restricted areas. Absolutely check one first before investing
I think all the restrictions sound overwhelming until you sort of dive into them. There are apps that you just click a few buttons to get FAA clearance for flights in those "restricted" zones. I live close to an airport and can pop outside and be flying legally before by drone has even found all the satellites. A lot of the restrictions are fairly nuanced too, in my city taking off and landing in a city park is a no no but flying in a city park is fine. I can't stand in the park and fly but I can fly in the park. The park controls the ground, the FAA almost exclusively controls the sky.

You're not wrong, there are plenty of rules and you need to learn them, but honestly the goal is just to not fly a drone into air traffic and cause issues... I can get behind that. Once you know how to get clearance and take a free short little FAA test that's impossible to fail, you can drone in and around plenty of places in my highly restricted area.

I have some parks and airports that are restricted but they are far but my residential area is clear so I think I'm good to go, so what happens if I'm in a restricted area that I dont know? does the drone turn back, do I get a warning or do I get a visit from the swat team? lol. thanks for taking the time to explain.

There's a range of penalties and I'm sure it changes state by state but the main things would be criminal fines and confiscation of device. From what I understand the restrictions on dji drones are more severe due to the recent ban. I definitely don't know all the details. Just wasn't worth the hassle.

The issue that tripped me up more often was the environmental conservation aspect. The majority of the places I wanted to fly were national parks for the scenery but that's all buttoned up as well. I understand it's good for the animals/birds but it was still a bummer

Hi everyone, is this the same as Mini 1? Or was this recently released?

so as someone who's near an airport and the entire city has restrictions, does this mean I cant use it in my city period? Trying to figure out if this is worth it or not.

I bought this.. have had it for about a week and a half. Absolutely love it... can't believe I've gone this long without having a drone.
Read the reviews an advice... looking back... I would've bought the mini 4k with the 2 extra battery packs. It would totally be worth it since I'm more than certain you'll love flying it around. Thing is pretty quick and for $209... I wouldn't mind crashing it and totaling it... however; I already found myself giving it a nickname lol

Do yourself a favor and buy extra propellers for when you DO CRASH IT... so you can just swap out the broken ones and away you go back to flying.

Batteries wise... I ended up buying a multi battery charger that comes with two extra batteries... those batteries do not compare to the OEM ones.
Amazon did however have "refurbished" batteries for sale that I found to be pretty equal to the original OEM battery mine came with.

Overall... at $209... just buy it!
