I'd high recommend skipping this and getting the HP version. This is the non-HP version of the jigsaw which does not have the externally adjustable tilt on the base. You have to use the screw UNDER the foot to adjust it, which means you can't hold it against the work simply and tighten the tilt screw. You have to lift the tool off the work to tighten it which makes it very annoying to try to get the tilt just right as you'll have to keep puting it back down and comparing it to the work then picking it back up and re-adjusting the tilt to fine tune it until you get it just right. The HP version of this jigsaw fixed that problem by puting the tilt lock on the back of the jigsaw in an area that is accessible without having to lift the tool off the work to adjust the tilt.

Seems like a great deal. Tool itself is about $60 so you get 2 batteries and charger for 40.

I just need one maybe two Ryobi batteries for basic homeowner drill & impact use. If I buy this and flip the saw & charger is that the cheapest way to get batteries? I just noticed they have a similar starter kit but with the circular saw. The circ saw might be easier to unload. (Effort noted!)

Good catch, noticed it too. Half of the tool sales arn't the newer, Brushless-motor HP types that work much better. Ryobi tools are on the low-power side as it is, but the HP at least work nicely.
Example, the non-HP 18V leaf blower is nigh useless for outside work. It does work decently as an indoor duster though, turn on the HVAC blower and blast the dust bunnies to kingdom come, let the furnace filters collect the bodies.

Depends a lot on how soon you need it. This deal is somewhat common with all sorts of different tools. Some of them are actually worth keeping. Also, sometimes it has 2x of the 4Ah batteries. Unless you just need to two batteries right away, I'd hold off. If you do flip, I doubt you'd get $40 for the jigsaw w/o battery, but who knows?

Thx. I just have a drill & impact set for homeowner use which needs batteries (all dead). I'm in the DeWalt family (and biased to corded for that matter) but these are good for supplemental project use. The non-HP circ saw even if so basic might fetch $50. I doubt the charger is easy to sell. So it's like $60 net for a 4.0 & 2.5 Ah battery pair.
