If you need to buy it from Best Buy, it's a small savings. You can purchase this model from the Apple edu website for $50 more as the regular price and use Apple financing or take advantage of whatever promo they have at the time. So a bit of a sale but not much.

It's okay. I'd say the advantage w/ best buy is that you can trade in your old apple device to lower the price of this (yes, I know you can trade in your device at apple or best buy and get a gift card as well).

If you are eligible for Shop My Exchange, they have these models for -$50 cheaper and 0% sales tax. To qualify you either need to be military, DoD civilian, or be a Federal civilian in some other select agencies (or have a friend or family member who does qualify who can order it for you). Shipping is free

Isn't it a regular price for past few weeks everywhere. I don't see it as a deal.

Overpriced and doesn't run Windows. Worse than a Chromebook. Actual professionals need Windows, otherwise this is an expensive web browser.

Hmm this is a good deal actually. I paid more for a Thinkpad x1 carbon. But I need Linux support for work anyway.

If you do anything professional (and don't use Windows lol), I recommend 24 GB of RAM. For SSD (NVMe) you have at least usb-c options (don't think you can replace it anymore). Had an M4 w 16 gb ram and 256 gb ssd for a year, and since recently I've started to dabble into Local AI, I've very quickly realized 16gb is on the low end. My M4 was always hovering around 80% memory utilization, and I had to keep an eye on possible memory starvation. Btw, install Stats to monitor your memory, etc.
So my son ordered me an M5 with 24gb version w 1TB drive from AAFES (military price) and after I read more about memory I've decided to actually get a refurb M4 instead but w 32gb ram. That was before I found out AAFES is not allowing returns on Apple laptops, so now I'm stuck w a sealed M5 and have to deal w the hassle of selling it on FB Marketplace…
One more word on local AI inference, there's a speed difference in memory bandwidth between the M4 and the M5. Your local AI model will run proportionately faster on the M5 (all other things being equal), as the memory bandwidth is 153gbps vs 120gbps on the M4. In my case i traded the faster local inference for the ability to test bigger models. Most my real local stuff is done on dgx spark anyways (128gb, but still relatively slow, unfortunately).
On the M4 with 32Gb I run at 70% memory utilization with a ton of apps open. No restrictions whatsoever (yet). With 24gb it would still allow me to run everything I run right now, but who knows in another few months,,. lol.
