Yet another laptop with a weird @$$ hinge design. And the screen actually sits right in front of the heat exhaust as a result.

I've had a really good experience with my Acer laptop. I just wish this had 32GB of RAM.

My friend got this laptop new a few weeks ago (Core Ultra 5, 512GB model) for $585 and has been enjoying it, especially with Linux. Seems to outperform the Steam Deck significantly if you're into light gaming. Crazy what $400 can get you with a laptop these days.

I purchased this a month ago from Acer as a refurb from Ebay.
Looked and felt New and i spent about a half hour de-bloating the software. Sadly about 3 weeks in the device behaved like it was not charged but i had it off the charger. Thinking it was dead i left it connected to the charger overnight.
The next morning it did not fire up. Ultimately i had to use a needle and push in the battery discharge or reset battery button to get it to fire up.
I am thinking it was software based as a ton of Acer updates applied the day it started to misbehave and it is working again.
I started a return and have till the 12th to make up my mind.

This was $356 after coupon just 3 weeks ago. Looks like Acer has a ton of them for some reasons.

Really good price. Also use CompactGUI to compress your steam games if 1TB is too small.

Exactly my experience (previous sale about 2 months ago)....
Looked like new and worked like a charm for 2 weeks. One morning: dead. Returned.
The only difference is that I did not de-bloat it. Instead I wiped out HDD and installed clean WIndows from USB.

It's not always a bad design, some laptop manufacturers use that never have an issue. I think the biggest issue I've seen with acer is often the cheap plastic parts they employ in the hinges. I know of several HP elite books using the same exhaust design but their hinges are super robust and made of aluminum and other metal and it never has an issue. But I've seen acer hinges break off because of flimsy plastic hinges.

i took a look at the pics for both... i dont see it as bad either...

what i see is the more classic (pre hinge problem) style.

i'm seeing the entire lCd screen panel will pivot with a ROD connecting both ends of the LCD... kinda there's no hinge.

my experience was with dells in 2021ish. ugh. horrid. those had hinges internally... hinges were metal but they screwed ONTO plastic panels internally

What makes it an "AI" laptop? How's that different from other laptops?
