This open box Galaxy Book5 Pro stands out as a thin 14 inch OLED Windows laptop with a sharp 3K 120 hertz touchscreen, strong Intel Ultra 7 performance, and very good battery life for everyday use and light gaming. The screen and overall build get the most praise, and several pickup units arrived looking nearly new, sometimes with only residue, stickers, or a missing power adapter. The main cautions are the soldered 16 gigabytes of RAM, which feels limiting for heavier multitasking, and repeated concern about fragile AMOLED screen cracking. Open box warranty handling also needs attention, especially on Best Buy units.

  • Shoppers comfortable with open-box pickups who can inspect the unit in person, because good or fair condition can still arrive clean and near new.

  • Light gamers who want a portable Windows machine, because the integrated graphics can handle non-AAA games and the battery can last through reasonably long sessions.

  • Samsung owners who want warranty coverage tied to the purchase date, because the warranty start date can be validated or reset after uploading proof of purchase.

  • Traveling productivity users who want a bright OLED laptop, because the chip sips power and the screen is crisp for daily work and light gaming.

  • Buyers who want a worry-free open-box warranty experience, because open-box coverage can be inconsistent and some units have failed after the return window.

  • Heavy multitaskers who keep many apps and browser tabs open, because the soldered 16GB memory can feel light and cannot be upgraded.

  • People who need a durable laptop for rough handling, because the glass display and narrow bezels can crack even without a drop.

  • Users who need loud, balanced built-in speakers from the 14-inch model, because the 14-inch speakers are described as really bad.

Phenomenal laptop, beautiful screen. I picked up a fair condition one about a year ago that was only dirty. Wiped it cleaned and looked brand new.

Personal experience/opinionEmbarrassmentnly risk Excellent condition open-box items for shipping. If good or fair, do store pickup so you can have them show you it in store and verify the condition before they sell it to you, then you can just cancel the order if it's bad condition. I've had VERY mixed luck with BB open-box items but still generally go with them if it's an option as it's good money saved and still includes warranties (usually).
Why does it matter before they sell it to you? Couldn't you just return it either way?

I ordered a different laptop in both excellent and good condition. Going to take them home and see which has less hours on it and how the battery and CPU conditions are.

Just picked one up in good condition. Had a Best Buy sticker on it . I peeled with the help of a hair dryer which went great . Cleaned up with iso alcohol after. The sticker still left a slight image outline where it used to be. Uhhhgg might return .

Be very careful with Galaxy Book laptops. Apparently, the screen is very fragile and there have been quite a few reports from owners starting that their screen has spontaneously cracked in spite of it never having been dropped or even bumped. If you decide to buy, get an extended warranty that will cover such damage should it ever happen to you.
*looks at his spontaneous cracked book3*

I do it so I don't set off something in their system doing too many alerts. Some items like phones and cameras, even if open box have a restocking fee now as well I believe.

Yes I also saw many reports of this on the AMOLED models due to their glass screen I believe. The Book 4 Edge which I have does not suffer from this issue but of course you have a weaker processor and standard screen along with a few other downgrades for $200 less.

This seems to be a very common problem ... google search and there are many report of the crack screen. I had owned a Galaxy Book Pro 360 and a Book 3 360 ... all seems fine and I really enjoy the Galaxy Book, However withe the many reports of the screen issues make me hesitate to pull the trigger. Especially it has been used which may increase the risk ... I have thought about the extended warranty, but that push the price out of my budget ...

I bought an open box "excellent" condition Moto Razr 2024+ on best buy back in Feb. Lasted exactly 66 days before the inner screen failed and I got that horrible black line at the crease. Neither Best Buy, or Motorola would take it back or exchange. Moto told me I was "8 days" past the phones manufactur warranty. Best Buy basically said SOL, you had 14 days to return. This has left a very very bad taste in my mouth. Especially since when I purchased what was described as a "new open box excellent condition" phone and thought it came with minimum 1yr warranty. Boy was I wrong.
It is a known fact that Best Buy is trash.

Only thing stopping me from getting this is the 400nits display. My Lenovo yoga with 600 nits is in last leg with breaking hinge.
Unless you are advanced in years or work 100% outdoors, 600 nits is overkill.

I bought an Asus laptop in excellent condition and the audio failed after about ten months. Asus said that the warranty claim had to go through BB and BB said the warranty had expired. Luckily I was able to use the credit card extended warranty protection.
