This screen is also far more crisp with high resolution and high refresh rate. The Steam Deck OLED is a measly 800p and 90hz.
The only thing that isnt 'better' is the form factor. But you lose handheld gaming and get a small laptop that is better for productivity and daily use (nobody uses a steam deck to web browse and type)
For power consumption, the chip in this sips power, you wont need a power bank as it will outlast any 'reasonably long' gaming session on the go. However the main power drain is the screen. If you play outside in bright sunlight and crank the screen brightness to max, then yeah it wont last long but nothing will.
I had no intentions of getting another laptop, but this is a very good deal and its rare to find Lunar Lake (this chip) with a nice OLED screen at this price point, usually its only the bad ARM based laptops.
Only risk Excellent condition open-box items for shipping. If good or fair, do store pickup so you can have them show you it in store and verify the condition before they sell it to you, then you can just cancel the order if it's bad condition. I've had VERY mixed luck with BB open-box items but still generally go with them if it's an option as it's good money saved and still includes warranties (usually).
Community Reviews
This open box Galaxy Book5 Pro stands out as a thin 14 inch OLED Windows laptop with a sharp 3K 120 hertz touchscreen, strong Intel Ultra 7 performance, and very good battery life for everyday use and light gaming. The screen and overall build get the most praise, and several pickup units arrived looking nearly new, sometimes with only residue, stickers, or a missing power adapter. The main cautions are the soldered 16 gigabytes of RAM, which feels limiting for heavier multitasking, and repeated concern about fragile AMOLED screen cracking. Open box warranty handling also needs attention, especially on Best Buy units.
Common Questions (5)
Condition varies a lot: some "Good" and "Fair" units arrive nearly brand new with only residue, stickers, or a missing power adapter, while others need a return. In-person pickup helps you inspect the unit and avoid surprises.
The AMOLED/glass display is repeatedly flagged as fragile, with reports of spontaneous cracking even without a drop. Gentle lid closing, letting the laptop cool before closing it, and adding an extended warranty are practical precautions.
Samsung can show a standard 12-month warranty, and the start date can be reset to your purchase date by uploading the Best Buy receipt in Samsung's warranty portal. Open-box coverage can still be risky if the manufacturer starts the clock at first setup, so it's worth validating the warranty after purchase.
The 16GB configuration is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded. It can be enough for light use, but it may feel tight for heavier multitasking or future OS upgrades.
No. Best Buy requires "Good" and "Fair" open-box items to be picked up in store so you can inspect them before taking them home; shipping is generally reserved for "Excellent" condition.

I think that they are doing this so sometime in the near future they can basically release the same chips, simply enable hyper threading and have something "new" faster and shiny to sell
They even gave you 14 days to return it.
Learn this lesson, those folding screen phones? They are still new and anyone that buys them are guinea pigs for the companies testing them.
Anyway, nobody would be able to make any money at all if they sold something used to you and were expected to replace it or refund you when you break it. SMH.
