This open box Galaxy Book5 Pro stands out as a thin 14 inch OLED Windows laptop with a sharp 3K 120 hertz touchscreen, strong Intel Ultra 7 performance, and very good battery life for everyday use and light gaming. The screen and overall build get the most praise, and several pickup units arrived looking nearly new, sometimes with only residue, stickers, or a missing power adapter. The main cautions are the soldered 16 gigabytes of RAM, which feels limiting for heavier multitasking, and repeated concern about fragile AMOLED screen cracking. Open box warranty handling also needs attention, especially on Best Buy units.

Common Questions (5)

  • Condition varies a lot: some "Good" and "Fair" units arrive nearly brand new with only residue, stickers, or a missing power adapter, while others need a return. In-person pickup helps you inspect the unit and avoid surprises.

  • The AMOLED/glass display is repeatedly flagged as fragile, with reports of spontaneous cracking even without a drop. Gentle lid closing, letting the laptop cool before closing it, and adding an extended warranty are practical precautions.

  • Samsung can show a standard 12-month warranty, and the start date can be reset to your purchase date by uploading the Best Buy receipt in Samsung's warranty portal. Open-box coverage can still be risky if the manufacturer starts the clock at first setup, so it's worth validating the warranty after purchase.

  • The 16GB configuration is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded. It can be enough for light use, but it may feel tight for heavier multitasking or future OS upgrades.

  • No. Best Buy requires "Good" and "Fair" open-box items to be picked up in store so you can inspect them before taking them home; shipping is generally reserved for "Excellent" condition.

Saw one in my area on 5/15, ordered online and picked up hours later. I've been trying to land one for a couple of weeks and am REALLY glad I finally got a chance. I picked up a "good" one for just under $650 out the door! The box tag stated the condition as "residue", but I was easily able to clean that off for a totally "flawless" unit.
Still has full warranty? THANK YOU BEST BUY!
Do you mind if I ask how did you check the warranty? Is it based on the manufacturing date or did you register it online the Samsung site?

Essentially, this device was auto registered to my Samsung account since I logged into my account on the device. Samsung says I have a standard 12 month already, but you can upload a receipt and purchase date to establish the starting date of your warranty period.

I registered my device and it says I have a 12 month warranty, but I'm not seeing where I can upload a receipt to establish the start date.

If your signed in on the samsung site, you should see your registered devices.... then click on the galaxybook or whichever samsung device you have, and it should take you to its warranty info and there should be a link that says "Validate your product warranty". That should take you there.
