This open box Galaxy Book5 Pro stands out as a thin 14 inch OLED Windows laptop with a sharp 3K 120 hertz touchscreen, strong Intel Ultra 7 performance, and very good battery life for everyday use and light gaming. The screen and overall build get the most praise, and several pickup units arrived looking nearly new, sometimes with only residue, stickers, or a missing power adapter. The main cautions are the soldered 16 gigabytes of RAM, which feels limiting for heavier multitasking, and repeated concern about fragile AMOLED screen cracking. Open box warranty handling also needs attention, especially on Best Buy units.

  • The high-resolution AMOLED touch display can look crisp and premium for daily productivity and browsing.

  • Some open-box units can arrive in near-new condition with original accessories included.

  • The Intel Ultra 7 256V configuration can deliver strong iGPU features like upscaling and frame generation.

  • Battery reports can show unusually low cycle counts and high battery health on certain open-box purchases.

  • Galaxy Book AMOLED models can have screen cracking reports, and extended warranty may be needed to manage that risk.

  • The 16GB RAM configuration can feel limiting for multitasking, and the soldered RAM prevents upgrades.

  • Open-box shipping can be risky because Best Buy may require in-person pickup to inspect good or fair units.

  • Warranty coverage for open-box purchases can be inconsistent, with manufacturers sometimes starting warranty at first setup.

Personal experience/opinion:
Only risk Excellent condition open-box items for shipping. If good or fair, do store pickup so you can have them show you it in store and verify the condition before they sell it to you, then you can just cancel the order if it's bad condition. I've had VERY mixed luck with BB open-box items but still generally go with them if it's an option as it's good money saved and still includes warranties (usually).
It's not possible to have "good" or "fair" items shipped to you from BB. BB wants you to come get those in person to check them out.

I bought an Asus laptop in excellent condition and the audio failed after about ten months. Asus said that the warranty claim had to go through BB and BB said the warranty had expired. Luckily I was able to use the credit card extended warranty protection.
Asus is a known warranty scammer.

Just picked up the last one in my city. Fair condition. It's just missing the power adapter. Everything else looks like new.

Well that was annoying. Bought one in fair condition yesterday (was missing power adapter). Came home and thought the snapdragon sticker on it was odd since it's supposed to be an intel CPU. Turns out it's a Galaxy4 Edge. Now I gotta deal with returning it. Damn Best buy.

Very tempting I found a good one close by but I already have the Samsung edge 4 Snapdragon Elite X84 with 1TB and 16GB RAM touchscreen 16 inch. No use of that one. I will wait for the Book 5 pro 360 deal may be. Amazing price though and thanks OP for posting. Updated!

Honestly, As I type this, only GOOGLE CHROME is taking 8gb of ram, doing almost nothing on my ROG Laptop my ram usage is at 90%, 16 gigs is not a lot, it's not enough for something other than browsing. This ram is soldered so consider that before buying, gave up on my purchase cus of this.

Do these open Box products have a warranty?
It depends on the manufacturer. I recently registered this same laptop to my Samsung account, and it initially had a warranty date from when it (presumably) was first purchased/registered. I then clicked a button to petition the warranty start date, uploaded my Best Buy proof-of-purchase, and a few days later it was approved to coincide with my purchase date. So, Samsung is good about it. I tried the same thing last year with an Asus and they would not change the warranty start date. Some companies (E.g. LG for sure, and maybe even Samsung) state in their warranty terms that the warranty applies to the original purchaser only.

I bought the 1gb, 32gb ram, 16" version of this back in Nov when on sale directly through samsung. It's a great laptop. I wish it had usb-c ports on both sides though. I did buy Samsung's extended warranty because of the cracked screen issues I read about.

To those who have this laptop,

How's the keyboard? Is it good for coding?
Does 16gb limit your work and feeling slow?

I am trying my luck. Going to install something like Crystal Disk and check actual usage and number of bootups on the machine and make a decision on whether or not to keep it.
