Now I pay $50 for what would be $90 on my own. Still 40+% off. Show me anywhere you get 40% off your groceries. Even if you save 25% it's a great deal. If I posted a deal that gas was 25% off a gallon you'd call that ok too.
For example, a buy 2 get 2 free promo. 1 is out of stock and they don't replace it, you get charged for 3. Or buy 4 get them $1 each. 1 is out of stock so you get charged $4 each.
They really need to find a solution for this.

LOL 'ok' deal. it's a great deal. you choose wisely on your shopping order. I did pick up at ALDI, most items are marked up at most about 10%. Even if all my items are marked up 10% at a store where the prices are pretty low to start with, let's say I'd pay $90oop in store shopping w/o this offer for the same $100 I order via GrubHub deal,

If you live in a less populated area with few choices where to shop this, okay, I understand. But for the most part, there are stores noted that say 'no markup' or in the case of Aldi, a reasonable mark up.
The way to play any 'threshold deal' is to just hit the threshold. spend right at $100 pre tax, so the $50 off maximizes the discount. I'd never spend $130 to just get the $50 off, not worth it, and since this is repeating weekly you can stratigize what to get. I'm loading up on as many non-perishables as I can. (canned/bottled goods, paper, foil, shelf stable items)
There's a wide berth with the percentage situation here. My feeling is anything over a 10-15% savings on a general grocery order of what you want to buy is indeed a deal. That takes into account pick up stores that have as much as a 35%-40% markup.over their in store price.
As for the points/gasoline example, it takes a while to get enough points to get a $1 off a gallon unless there's some special promos for a lot of points. Even then, if you get 15 gallons of gas, that's maybe $15 you saved, but as you point out, if the station you're forced to use is charging 35c more a gallon, suddenly you're only saving about $9. You have to crunch the numbers, but there's a convenience factor here too. Save 15-40%, sit at your desk and shop, and someone else does the work shopping for you. You're in and out in less than 10 minutes.
If it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work, but anything over a 10% savings is a good deal on groceries and the higher percentage like 30-40% is a great deal IMO. and that percentage is based on what you would NORMALLY PAY HAD YOU GONE TO STORE X AND SHOPPED YOURSELF.
Sorry I don't agree. Obviously my comments are directed at people who get GrubHub+ included either with AMZ Prime or some Credit Card perk. OR those who regularly subscribe to GrubHub+ (didn't join just for this deal).
