I bought this exact model last year and it stopped working because the pawl mechanism wouldn't engage correctly after a few uses, never dropped it and always put it back in its case just like all my other delicate tools such as calipers. I paid $89 for it and now it is junk. I recently replaced it with a 3-pack of torque wrenches from Seesii (they are like Vizio, way less expensive than any "good brand" but works great for the price) which only cost $60 for the whole set and included a 1/2", 3/8", and 1/4" torque wrench and they all work great and are equal quality and accuracy to the Harbor Freight torque wrenches which were tested along side the $500 SnapOn torque wrench and they are only about 0.2% to 0.8% greater variance than the SnapOn so they work amazingly well for the price!

I have this craftsman since 2022 with no problems. It was $49 back then....

I also have three harbor freight torque wrenches. No problems with them either since like 2020.

I'm in the same boat, the calibration needs to be maintained and these good deals that set on a shelf for years are an excellent example.

Unfortunately, those calibrations will be a bit off. Because there are several interacting lever arms within the wrench, the calibration weight needs to be centered on the handle. Meh. I'd go $20 harbor freight. Don't see much difference between this and that. My .02.

Not a precessional mechanic but I work on cars a fair amount in down time.

I've used several brands of 1/2" drive torque wrenches and my favorites are this Craftsman, Lexivon, and Harbor Freight's Icon split beam (split beams don't need to reset to lowest setting). Back to this Craftsman, it has good ergonomics, a long torque arm, and I haven't had any reliability issues.

I had very poor results with Craftsman torque wrenches. If you're lucky, they break. Other times, you tighten the fastener, it doesn't release at the set torque value, and you over-tighten: They are really crap and a big waste.
Harbor Freight Icons are way, way better.

These are made in Taiwan and are right there with the Tekton and other stuff that comes from there.

I have one just to tighten my wheel lugs, which require 129ft/lbs of torque, so the higher range is helpful with this.

For that this does fine, I won't be working on a nuclear plant with these or whatever...if I needed something calibrated and mega reliable, I'd go with Proto.

The Harbor Freight only goes to 150 lb feet this one goes to 250, I just needed 162 for an axel nut and used this one.
