I'm pleasantly surprised how much I use mt round griddle. Decent price but not sure of quality. Maybe your grandparents have a Wagner or Griswold to use instead?

It is one piece of solid cast iron, it is round, it is flat.
What would be the "quality" issue? 🤔

These are made in Colombia. I have this exact one and use it daily, much better quality than your basic "lodge". I might order another as backup.

I am quite happy with this brand for my normal 10" skillet. I had to replace an old lodge that I lost, and this brand has done great.

Having started my cast iron collection with a round flat one similar to this, I'd say it's not a bad start. I graduated to pans with higher sides. They're more versatile, and allow easier stovetop clean up. But, not a bad start.
