Don't you know Zombies are attracted to bright orange? I would only move at night, in full blacked-out attire...ninja style...with full bite proof dog training armor under the ninga suit, composite toes black tactical boots, ANSI level 9A cut resistant gloves with harded impact resistant knuckles and a Stilo ST5 helmut. In a lightweight backpack, I'd have water connected into ST5 helmet and room for extra gear and for items found scavenging the waste land. Hell...I might even have room for a pair of these chainsaw chaps.

Why does everyone think chainsaws for zombies? You really want to spread a pathogen all over the place right in front of you?!?!
And like many safety things this is single use. A chainsaw will shred it, but in it's destruction it will jam the chainsaw, hopefully before it cuts through to you.

Look at John Ringo's take on zombie apocalypse combat.
Frontline combatants wore full firefighter gear. Pretty close to zombie proof other than by being dogpiled.
