The Echelon Connect Sport 2 is a basic magnetic-resistance spin bike that works well for home cardio, especially when paired with the QZ app and Peloton app instead of Echelon software. The no screen setup keeps things simple, and the bike can provide useful metrics like cadence, speed, distance, resistance, and watts through Bluetooth. Fit and comfort are the main tradeoffs, with some riders replacing the seat or pedals and noting limited adjustment for taller users. Firmware updates and app changes can affect QZ support, so leaving it alone matters.

  • The bike can work with the QZ app and Peloton app via Bluetooth for full ride metrics.

  • The resistance system uses manual magnetic levels and avoids electronically controlled resistance issues.

  • Setup can feel high quality for the price, and installation may take about 45 minutes.

  • Some units reportedly connect with QZ without downloading the Echelon app or updating firmware.

  • The screen can go dead quickly and may require warranty replacement to restore functionality.

  • The speed sensor can cut in and out and may worsen over time, which can skew ride stats.

  • Firmware updates may break QZ support, so updating the bike can create connectivity problems.

  • Some shipments may arrive without a manual or instructions, which can complicate assembly and setup.

If you're committed to using a spin bike at home regularly, no. Look for a good used Schwinn, Keiser, Lemond on craigslist. You get something reliable, replaceable parts, and customer support.
After the pandemic ended...all kinds of deals could be found on FB MP and Craigslist for mint exercising equipment.

This or maybe a Schwinn IC3 or 4 off marketplace?

Disregard- I went ahead and just purchased this one.

Ive had the red model for 5 years. As others stated, buy the qz app and use peleton app.
Its a good spin bike and at this price its a no brainer.

Does it come with the firmware already applied that broke QZ (around July 2025) or it is the older firmware that you should never upgrade (because that would break it)?

The one I got a few days ago works with QZ, I didn't download the Echelon app or update the firmware. I believe that the Echelon app has a free mode where you can still get some basic metrics as well.

if you are serious about riding/training I have found these type of fixed bikes are not worth it at any price

I don't have this specific model but similar

the angles are all wrong compared to a real road bike, for the seat and handlebars and they have extremely limited adjustment

you are far better off getting ANY kind of cheap low end 10-12 speed bike and putting it on the Thinkrider trainer when it comes on sale below $200, it's been as cheap as $150 with aliexpress.us codes

just my 2 cents, $130 may seem cheap but you will want to re-buy something else soon enough, these devices are only as good as you are comfortable enough to use it often, otherwise becomes a clothes hangar

https://slickdeals.net/f/19479315-thinkrider-x2max-smart-bike-trainer-2000w-18-climb-simulation-in-power-meter-169-free-shipping

wait for another sale if you want to use an indoor trainer often and want something comfortable
Sounds like a nice product. "Yes, the ThinkRider XXPRO smart bike trainer can generate its own electricity. This self-power generation capability allows the device to operate without connecting to an external power adapter, as it converts your pedaling energy into the electricity needed to power its internal electronic systems and electromagnetic resistance. ". Time to look for an emergency radio to hook up to it, lol.

I got a similar model, Echelon GT Connect from Target for $175 a couple of years back. It has been a workhorse for me for cardio for the last 2 years, using it 3-4 times per week. Everything has held up really well, except the pedals which started clicking a few weeks after a started using it. I'd highly recommend replacing the pedals to proper SPD pedals if yours give out like mine did. Also recommend adding a light seat cushion as the seats are not comfortable. Besides that I've been happy with the bike.

Can't believe how cheap these are now. Insane how there is almost like negative demand. Anyway, if you can deal with no screen, the bike is pretty awesome although I did replace the seat and pedals. I would use an app to convert output to peloton and use my wife's subscription. Her Peloton is definitely not worth the price upgrade imo.

By works with QZ I assume you mean full metrics (speed, distance, cadence, etc.) and not just resistance metrics?

yeah all that is working on QZ, speed/cadence/distance/kcal/resistance/watt/ect.
