It's nuts because the value of what you get for the listed watch versus one from 3 generations ago is exceedingly minimal for your average user.

The only thing any of the newer watches have that I really would like is the flashlight. Beyond that my Fenix 6 Sapphire that's 4 years old is nearly pristine and been with me through thousands of miles of running, hiking, and gym time.

Fenix 6, you say. That's major upgrade compared. These watches have speaker, microphone, and the 8 pro have built in LTE-M connectivity. The screen is way better quality and bigger also.

The average Garmin user doesn't use those things, and if they want them they go Apple watch, because they all are inferior quality to an Apple watch (microphone, speaker, and LTE).
My point is the core usage is basically the same, and the additions are inferior to other brand offerings. The value in a $950 Fenix 8 is extremely poor. It's undeniable.

The Pro is not on this sale. A speaker and microphone are not worth this kind of money.

Fenix 9 would probably cost 2k and will only work with a monthly subscription of $99 and soon they will start charging $5 for a badge.

Yeah, it is crazy for a thousand dollars. My felix 6 pro was only $350 new back then. What is new in this felix 8 that cost a few times more?

Besides the flashlight, it's the color higher resolution OLED touch screen that is better for maps.

Garmin news to chill on their prices. Had several fénix but can't justify $900+ on a device that will be obsolete in a few years. I'd rather buy an older gen for a fraction of the price. Even the epix 2 can be found under 300

I already did.On my last fenix watch (7x) after more than decade with them. There is no justification they have for following apple and Samsung's footsteps.

The fact that you will charge it once a month, no other smart watch can match that, it has many new features, just go on the website and check it out. Apple watch is no where near the features. all new sensors have been added and very accurate. So much technology packed.

I've got a Fenix 8 Solar Sapphire. Live in a mountain town, backcountry ski, mountain bike, mountaineer, trail/ultra runs, triathalons etc.

This watch does everything exceedingly well and I charge it maybe once every 16 days or so.

When released I think the 6 sapphire was $650 and 6 pro solar (the equivalent apples apple since solar, etc) was $850 or $950 for the proX. Adjusted for inflation, and considering you get a lot more features today in terms of HR and GPS accuracy, etc, as much as I would like the prices to be cheaper than they are, they are actually relatively the same level of "expensive".
