I picked one of these up last time they were at this price. Heats the water up very quickly and temps are pretty accurate. Great for making different kinds of teas. Only complaint is sometimes the lid sticks closed and you have to fiddle with it for a second to get it to open.

WTF. We have like a $16 kettle that does a one-press boil in about 5 mins. Why the hell would you pay $100?

Same reason as to why someone would stay at a Park Hyatt instead of a Motel 6. I've stayed at both, while I managed to sleep at both establishments the experience was quite different. I'd imagine your $16 kettle lacks adjustable temperature settings, which is rather useful when brewing different beverages

That metaphor is doing some heavy lifting. A kettle with adjustable temperature settings is 1/3rd this price on Amazon any day of the week. You're paying for a brand name and, given the brand is actually known for making stainless steel cookware, not much else.

Does it heat up the water faster for 5 times more than average price?

FYI - this is not entirely stainless steel according to reviews, or even all clad.

Have you thought about buying a food thermometer for a couple dollars. Boil it up in your $7 dollar electric kettle, and wait till it cools down to your exact temperature. I'd imagine it might be rather useful at 1/10th the price you're spending.

Some people have ten times more money, and absolutely no more actual wealth. Maybe even less in the upper departments.
