If you are eligible for this tablet, then you are also eligible for the newer version of this tablet for $150 on promotion. If you need more processing power, you might want to look at this newer model instead.

Is the Moto Pad $49.99 and the higher spec A11 $149 as listed or are they cheaper for existing customers? (asking because you need to be logged in to see prices, the A9 is advertised as $49.99 even though it is free)
When logged in using incognito window the Samsung is free but the A 11 and the Moto pad are priced where you saw them.

So I guess you need to be on an active account for over a month to qualify for this, but this deal will be expired soon... Right? Like if I sign up today for service, this probably won't be around in a month. Just asking since family keeps breaking tablets and I could use some more to have on hand, even if I have to wait one year for unlock

A9+ is a trash tablet - I had one and they never fixed the bug where enabling 90Hz mode lags the tablet immensely after a while.

The $30 Amazon Fire tabs are better than this.

I and a few others have reported that we just got new accounts with a phone line and were able to immediately order. Keep in mind the phone must have delivered and activated, before ordering.

If I want to gift this, I don't have to do anything after I receive the tablet, right?

Historically, these MetroPCS deals expire when the lot of units that were committed for this promotion are gone. We have no way of knowing how many units were allotted for this promotion, or how long it will take for that allottment to be exhausted.

The Samsung Galaxy A9+ has been on the market for some time now. It is speculated that this is nearing end of life in the channel. Perhaps that is true.

The tablet will arrive with a MetroPCS SIM card that is tied to your primary phone number at MetroPCS. In order to activate the device on the MetroPCS network you will need to use your primary account number and Name. The 6 month countdown to unlocking will not start until you activate the phone on the MetroPCS network...

Thank you.

Is the unlock policy duration requirement different for tablets vs phones?
6 months vs 12 months?

When the 30 days passes, do I have to do anything to remove the tablet from my account?
Or will it automatically drop from my account because I don't keep paying for service?

I ordered the tablet the day after I received and activated my phone.

I just ordered another one.
Hopefully they can be used on wifi even if the tablet isn't unlocked.

IIUC, the unlock period for these promotional tablets is 6 months from activation. IDK about the unlock policy for other products. It has been a few years since I purchased my phone from Metro...

Metro is a pay as you go carrier. If you let your service be suspended by not paying, then that is what will happen. But, this will happen to all devices on your plan. And, you need to make sure that you are not signed up for automatic payment.

If you wish to continue to have your cellphone active on this account, but to drop the tablet add on service, then you will need to cancel that add on service explicitly. You may be able to do so online or through the app, or you may have to call Metro. IIRC, I called them to do this on my first promo tablet over a year ago. They tried hard to get me to continue service with some lower cost option; but I declined.

Personally, I will be contacting Metro to have this add on service removed from my account 1-2 business days after activation of that service. I want to see the billing corrected before my next bill due date. IIRC, this will result in this add on service going inactive at the end of the 30 days of service that were paid for up front. I just activated my new A9+ promo tablet today, May 17, 2026. It should stay on the Metro network for 30 days before I relegate it to wifi only service...

Ah okay.
My smartphone will be paid for only 30 days.
I am guessing when the line goes away, the tablet will automatically detach.
