Also, here's what I do to get it running well, before going online, after a full wipe. I do not use a Google account on it, so the bloatware you can't disable isn't able to phone home.
-Private DNS one.one.one.one
-Motion Smoothness standard
-Edge Panels disable
-Battery Protection maximum
-Fast Charging disable
-Daily Board disable
-RAM Plus disable
-Disable Android System Intelligence, AppSelector, Content Manager, Device Manager, Mobile Services, Personal Data Intelligence, Private Compute Services (there's around 50 apps I disable in total, but these are the worst offenders).
-Reduce Animations enable

The $30 Amazon Fire tabs are better than this.

The Samsung Galaxy A9+ has been on the market for some time now. It is speculated that this is nearing end of life in the channel. Perhaps that is true.
Is the unlock policy duration requirement different for tablets vs phones?
6 months vs 12 months?
When the 30 days passes, do I have to do anything to remove the tablet from my account?
Or will it automatically drop from my account because I don't keep paying for service?
I just ordered another one.
Hopefully they can be used on wifi even if the tablet isn't unlocked.

Metro is a pay as you go carrier. If you let your service be suspended by not paying, then that is what will happen. But, this will happen to all devices on your plan. And, you need to make sure that you are not signed up for automatic payment.
If you wish to continue to have your cellphone active on this account, but to drop the tablet add on service, then you will need to cancel that add on service explicitly. You may be able to do so online or through the app, or you may have to call Metro. IIRC, I called them to do this on my first promo tablet over a year ago. They tried hard to get me to continue service with some lower cost option; but I declined.
Personally, I will be contacting Metro to have this add on service removed from my account 1-2 business days after activation of that service. I want to see the billing corrected before my next bill due date. IIRC, this will result in this add on service going inactive at the end of the 30 days of service that were paid for up front. I just activated my new A9+ promo tablet today, May 17, 2026. It should stay on the Metro network for 30 days before I relegate it to wifi only service...

My smartphone will be paid for only 30 days.
I am guessing when the line goes away, the tablet will automatically detach.
