Walmart Express Delivery is framed as a fast option for groceries and other delivery orders, with same day or next day shipping available on many nonperishables when a local store carries them. It can also help avoid the $35 minimum by pairing a small item with grocery add ons, and Walmart Plus or InHome can remove tipping or use screened Walmart employees. The main drawbacks are frequent cancellations, limited hours, and promo codes or the $10 charge sometimes failing to apply. It feels most useful when speed matters and the local store can actually fulfill the order.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. Small or no-tip orders can sit unaccepted, get reassigned, or be canceled, especially when drivers are being paid low base rates and are prioritizing tipped batches. Some orders may also be delayed because Walmart batches tipped and non-tipped deliveries together.

  • For delivery orders, tipping is expected, but the app still lets you select "No tip." Walmart+ delivery is often free, while express delivery is the paid, immediate option that may still rely on driver tips.

  • No. Some orders show "Promo code applied" but still keep the $10 charge, and others report the code not working at all. The offer also appears limited by area and hours, so it may not be usable in every location.

  • Yes. The $40/year InHome Plus Up adds delivery by Walmart employees with background checks, no tipping, and reportedly fewer cancellations than Spark-driver deliveries.

  • Yes. One workaround is to add grocery items to push the cart over $35, then let the extra groceries get canceled while the main item still ships free. That can avoid paying the delivery fee, but it depends on cancellations.

Back that opinion up! I've tried a simple order of Coca-Cola and some household goods and the orders been canceled twice it's like the drivers don't want to do small orders.... By contrast I've never had a problem with Amazon
This is my experience as well. 50/50 if it gets cancelled.

Walmart+ is infinitely better than prime
What are you smoking?

Walmart+ can be great, but no where is it close to Amazon Prime.

I have had similar issues with walmart+. An order is only available for free shipping(as opposed to delivery from store where you need to tip) if there is a delivery order in my area. But since you don't tip with a free shipping order, it often gets cancelled.
I've used this to my advantage the last three times I ordered from Walmart. I wanted an item less than $35 minimum for free delivery. I don't have Walmart+. So I order my item and add grocery items to go over the $35 and get free delivery.

The items I wanted ships for free very quick and, and at least so far, the extra groceries I ordered to get over $35 get cancelled. I wind up not paying for delivery that way,

I don't know. I had it for a year. So much stuff I wanted to order didn't qualify for free shipping.

if you join the InHome addition for $40/year they will never cancel deliveries and you never tip

because it's real walmart employees and not side-gig delivery drivers

Very good to know. Thought the only delivery method was independent, not a national courier. Thanks and repped.
If you want delivery, which is what this deal is about, there is an "expectation" of a tip, although you can select "No tip."

I guess it's ok if you need something right now and willing to tip versus Walmart+ most deliveries are free and no tipping involved.
Tipping is "expected" with Walmart+ delivery. You can select "No tip."

walmart uses spark drivers to "ship" their same day orders.
without tips the payrate is abysmal and walmart just undercut drivers even more by m,ixing their non tipped orders with their tipped orders, which effectively uses customers tips as bribes to move their merchandise.

the result has been less than desirable for customers who tip as now their ordes just sit there for much longer until either the lowball payrate that walmart pays increases enough to cover driver expenses and time, or there is a large enough tip to incentivise a driver to take their order and the driver is willing to gamble that they dont get tip baited.
As a driver, its time to move on from that platform until walmart respects its drivers.
