Great if you already have a compatible remote-- otherwise get this bundle for ~$50 more.

The DJI Neo is a compact entry-level 4K mini drone that works best for first-time flyers, especially if a compatible remote is already on hand. The bundle with three batteries and a charging hub adds convenience, and the built-in transmitter keeps the setup simple. The main catch is that a controller bundle may cost about $50 more if you do not already have one. Several comments also point to the Neo 2 as the stronger upgrade, with obstacle avoidance, a two-axis gimbal, and better overall performance.

  • The Neo can work as a solid entry option for people starting the drone hobby.

    JackJax

  • The bundle can be a good fit when a compatible remote is already available.

    knee

  • The Neo 4K package may be a practical choice if you prefer a smaller, compact drone with a built-in transmitter.

    FeistyWing507

  • The Neo 4K can be positioned as a stepping stone while waiting for a Neo 2 sale.

    KHHATL

  • The Neo 4K bundle may require buying a controller bundle if you do not already have a compatible remote.

    knee

  • Following on water can be a no-go with a controller bundle, which pushes interest toward Neo 2 instead.

    mstang1988

  • Obstacle avoidance may not prevent crashes in real use.

    FeistyWing507

  • Neo 2 upgrades may not feel worthwhile to everyone, since some users disagree about how much better it is.

Get the Neo 2, the upgrades are worth the premium over this one.

That's the decision I made recently. I looked at the cob with the controller for 250 and ordered it. I then started reading about it following on the water and it was a no go. Seems like the NEO 2 is better for this and almost everything else. The guest urge control is also pretty darn cool.

If you can spend a little more, get the Neo 2. Obstacle avoidance, 2 axis gimbal and more improvements is worth it. I got mine on Ebay from a S. Korea seller for $360 including the $25 Allstate Insurance, delivered in 4 days including the weekend.

Would you be able to share or DM this seller? This might be a good option for me

Im holding out for a big deal on the neo 2 as well. All the reading ive done seems to point that direction and then a co worker was flying one in our gym and gushing over it lol so hopefully that deal comes soon!

Absolutely! It is not worth upgrading to Neo2. Neo1 is smaller and compact with a built-in transmitter. Even though Neo2 has a better camera, it is bigger and needs a transmitter separately.

The Neo 2 also has a 2 axis gimble, obstacle avoidance and overall it's just a better drone. Worth the premium imo.
