buy the inverter U model

uses half the power, much more quiet too

and they refunded everyone for the mold recall so Midea stands by their products which is good to know

they are just a pain in the butt, almost impossible to clean the blower, and I don't understand why they do that

If you have the storage it's good to have one around you can use for an emergency. Picked up a 5k btu one for $80 years ago and I've used it several times with a small generator or when whole house AC was down.

I say buy the u shape version from Costco next week. It's $300 and 12k BTU. Like someone else posted, they refunded everyone for the mold issue. So they do stand behind their product.

I keep mine on low during the expensive hours and it only uses very little energy. IIRC it uses about 250 - 300Ws when set to cool and on low fan speed. Worth the energy savings for double the price and double the cooling power. And the u shape is much quieter I barely hear it.

Hey is this the one you are referring to? currently $329 but next week should go down to $300? Thanks in advanced. https://www.costco.com/p/-/midea-...?langId=-1

I second this! I have the u shaped one as well out in a shed in hot AZ and it sips energy on low. I believe the one I use said it was 15 seer. Well worth it!

Yes, in store it's going to be $300. but it looks like they already discounted it online. so $329 is the lowest it will get if you want it delivered. so $30 shipping. If you check out the Sd post about Costco coupons you should see it on the digital scans.

Edit: if you ever get the chance to get one of the heat pump versions on sale I'd say jump on it. I did a few years ago and it's wonderful. having the unit able to switch from cooling one day to heat the next automatically to keep the room at the perfect temp is such a great feature. I have it set on a time of day schedule and on automatic, I never have to do anything and it keeps the room cozy. it's nice to not have an electric heater drying out the air. the heat pump gives off a soft non drying heat. It would be nice if Costco carried those versions in store.

While this is a good suggestion, the price difference is like $200 with the BJ's coupon. If someone needed a cheaper unit, it's not comparable to this deal.
