I bought these a couple weeks ago and have used them about four times for an hour or two as I'm siding my house. Here are my thoughts.
  1. Compared to the other offerings from other companies, this is a great price. I haven't seen sales like this on the others.
  2. They still seem to be fairly high cost but are very well-built.
  3. The Packout container has far less storage than I assumed. The battery compartment can't store much of anything; the battery takes up all the space, especially if you use the larger batteries. If it had a side-mounted battery with a little cover I think it could reclaim half the battery compartment space. However, due to the annoying M12 battery release design, I doubt they could unless the batteries didn't clip in.
  4. The Rocket light does not lock at various heights. You have to extend one or both rods to raise it. That's fine for 99% of my uses, I'm sure. It only stays up with friction, so don't be afraid to sort of slam it open and bump it purposefully to close. This seems like an odd choice to me, but it works.
  5. The lights on both are bright enough for me to work on the single-story part of my house at night.
  6. The Rocket is far larger to store than I expected.
  7. Last night I ran out of time on my 2.0Ah battery in the Rocket. I didn't time it, but it wasn't two hours, I don't think. That's the longest I've used it at once and I was surprised it didn't last longer. Again, it was only a 2.0 battery.
Overall, I like these. For the cost, if you want a robust set, are already using Packout, and/or have M12 batteries, these are nice. Both could be a little better, but they're rugged and this is a good/fair cost for them.

I own a m12 and m18 rocket light probably close to 10 years. Although it's not very adjustable like the m18 the head swivels and that's enuf . Although it's not the lightest light it's much lighter than the m18. It may not produce as much light as the m18 but it produces plenty of light imo . I pick up the m12 much more often than the m18 due to the weight and size. IMO it's a great light. This pack out I have zero experience with but I could see it being useful .

I do not understand why these are priced the way they are.
