But replacing the SSD, on the other hand, is trivially simple. It's designed to be user-swappable, and uses the same type as the Steam Deck. You'll spend infinitely more time installing Windows + drivers than the five or so minutes it takes to replace the physical SSD.
Windows 11 runs pretty terribly on 8GB, similar to how Windows 10 did on 4GB, even if you strip it to the essentials. 10 should never have been allowed to ship with only 4GB in the first place.
Anyway, you can do basic browsing and productivity stuff, but once you have more than a handful of open tabs or documents, things will grind to a halt. Multiple simultaneous apps are also generally going to be a deal breaker.
And the thing is, all of that is only going to get worse with time, not better. Anyone buying one now is going to be looking at keeping it for at least several years, and the future is not going to be bright. I've had to troubleshoot quite a few W11 laptops running 8GB for friends and definitely, and it is already not pretty.

I already have an iPad but I'm getting the Pro 7+ for some specific usage scenarios where I need Windows on tablet. However, it's more of a placeholder until Windows on ARM becomes more viable and prices drop.

And no, things will not "gRiNd tO A HaLt" with a few tabs open. And how many documents and productivity stuff can you manage at a single time with a touch screen, no keyboard, and no mouse input?
This tablet got rave reviews at launch. Did the ram expire or something? Did Windows 10 just double the memory usage? LOL....
FWIW, I think you just don't know how to close background tasks. You don't need 64GB of ram on a TABLET if you actually close stuff when you are done using them. You aren't auditing last year's taxes in excel, browsing 7 tabs in Chrome, playing a game, looking at a restaurant menu's PDF, watching Netflex, and photoshopping all at the same time on a 12" screen. You just aren't. "Most people" know that..... even my Nana

Seriously, if you are going to nitpick between Refurbished and Used, at least make sure you get it right when the deal's link has the world "Refurbished" used at least 20 times. 🙄
*I am not claiming or attesting to how well these are refurbed, but that wasn't your point so please don't move the goalpost now.
