Don't forget the trick!!! You all are doing it wrong!!
Step 1: Buy 3-4 PERSONAL 365 Microsoft 1 year plans. Add to account ( Microsoft365.com/setup). Be sure your account isn't linked to a best buy or amazon or other 3rd party. Do not go over 4 years. I got my for $50 each.
Step 2: Then an offer from Microsoft for Premium family (advanced ai) will generate for $99 a year (instead of $199) on subscription page. Before you add, paypal has an offer for 20% off at Microsoft - add offer.
Step 3:
Use Microsoft link on subscription page to upgrade to Premium family for $99 and pay using paypal.
*** Congratulations - Your PERSONAL plan is now PREMIUM FAMILY for a heavy discount for next 5 years.
All in it will cost $50/$50/$50/$50/$80. $280 for 5 year. That is $56 a year for Premium family. My renewal billing says $199 a year starting May 1, 2031.
You have to let your plan expire or start a new plan for this to work. I let mine (family) expire last week. Then did this. I had a friend who did 4 years and got Microsoft to add his 9 months from the old Family plan onto newly "created" plan.
My old plan was under that BestBuy nonsense but it was from a SD offer to where I got Personal codes for $9. Went to every Best Buy and bought up many of these $9 packages (mouse/code/webroot antivirus). YMMV.
This Microsoft 365 deal stands out for the app checkout discount and the bundled cloud storage, especially the 1TB per user and up to 6TB on Family. The discount often appears only late in checkout, sometimes on the Place Order screen or in Amazon Pay, and the app seems required. The subscription can be used to extend an existing plan, and stacking multiple years is possible, though some stacking and upgrade paths have started throwing errors or changing behavior. The main draw is the storage and Office access, with the caveat that the best price may take some digging to surface.
People extending an existing Microsoft 365 subscription, because the license can be stacked onto current coverage instead of starting over.
People relying on easy subscription stacking or version conversion, because adding different codes can error and may only work when the current term ends.
The discount appears in the app checkout flow, not in the cart. Go all the way to the final checkout screen or the green Place Order page, and the discount should show there; some buyers only saw it after logging into Amazon Pay.
Yes, the codes can be stacked, but several comments suggest staying at or under about 4 years before adding another upgrade or moving the plan. One report says adding 3 copies only gave a smaller discount, while 2 copies gave the full discount, so multiple orders may be needed for longer stacking.
Yes. The Family plan covers up to 6 accounts with 1TB of OneDrive storage each, for up to 6TB total. That storage is the main value for people who want Microsoft 365 across multiple devices or family members.
Yes, the listing notes that it can extend an existing Microsoft 365 subscription. It is commonly used to tack on extra time and avoid higher auto-renewal pricing.
No. The discount has been reported without Prime, and one checkout showed the Prime discount line only after logging into Amazon Pay, while another buyer got the deal for $81 plus tax without Prime.
Looking at the Personal. The poor one-star reviews with purchasers (saying key doesn't work or Amazon becomes the manager of your subscription if it does) are scaring me. If you've already would appreciate if you could let us know if you've been running into these issues

Just to confirm this is the same problem I've had recently. I had quite a few years stacked, and also upgraded to premium or whatever. I got a 3 month personal and kept getting errors trying to add it. Support told me well probably because it is a different version. When I tried to add it again for shits and giggles the other day then it started telling me I have to use it when my current subscription ends. So seems like converting personal to family no longer applies. I'm not even sure a regular family code will work now if you already upgraded to premium. Not sure I want to risk $80 trying even though they don't seem to sell premium codes.
There are so many alternatives to this that unless you 100% need office only features (which most exist everywhere now), you can likely get by with Google Docs (another tech monster owned project) or Open Office (open source alt)
Excel alone is light years ahead of anything Google Docs.
Or just download libre office which is free and has none of the bloat.
The real value (and this is personal) is the 1TB/user cloud storage single 6TB family. If you must have MSFT, then there are other options from perpetual licenses to mass..grave. I have a number of cousin eddys to take up those 6 slots. If you don't need the cloud storage, there are better options and TBH I dont even use office anymore I have moved everything to GWP.

The checkout discount can appear during the checkout flow even when it is not visible in the cart.
The product can be used to extend an existing Microsoft 365 subscription instead of starting from scratch.
The Family plan can cover up to six accounts with 1TB OneDrive storage per user.
AI and Copilot features can add practical spreadsheet assistance like flagging spacing and spelling inconsistencies.
The app discount may be buried in the checkout steps and can still show the higher price on the Place Order page.
Subscription stacking and upgrades can produce errors, and support may require using codes only when the current subscription ends.
The discounted Family premium upgrade may be limited by a cap of not going over five years total coverage.
Some purchasers report key or subscription management problems, which can make the deal risky to attempt.
