Be aware of compatibility, it's 40V, not the usual 18V power tool

This 40V Ryobi battery topper work light is a handy emergency and outage light for anyone already on the 40V platform. It is described as super bright, easy to aim, and useful for electrical work, with the USB C port adding extra utility. The light works well with 40V batteries, but it is not compatible with the more common 18V Ryobi tools. The USB C output is limited to 15 watts, so it will not charge a laptop, and a better holiday price may appear later.

Common Questions (4)

$19.97 is viewed as a solid buy, especially for emergency lighting, but it has dropped to $9.97 during a holiday sale before, so a lower price may return.
jacob.b.smith skeppley JoshK7478
No. It uses the 40V system, not the more common 18V Ryobi batteries/tools, so it only fits existing 40V batteries.
ScarletRiver5256 edarenas661
No. The USB-C port is limited to 15W, so it can handle small devices but is not suitable for laptop charging.

For $20, this seems like an easy purchase for power outages / emergency or portable lighting. And the usb-c port is a bonus.

40v batt are so expensive, I save it for power things.

For lights and fans, I use the 18v.

That's exactly the reason I bought this and the topper fan. Between my ryobi 40v mower, chainsaw, and blower, I've ended up with three 40v 6ah batteries and two 4ah ones. This is a perfect way to be able to utilize those in a power outage. Between the lighting, the fan, and the usb c's. These could be quite helpful.
