This 10th generation iPad stands out as a strong low price tablet with 256 gigabytes of storage, an A14 chip, and enough speed for everyday use, games, photos, document uploads, and family or kid duties. It is described as snappy in daily use and a step up from the 9th generation, with the larger storage making it far more flexible than the base model. The main drawback is longevity, since it is already partway through Apple support life and lacks Apple Intelligence. The non laminated screen is the other notable compromise, making it a practical short term or basic use pick.

  • Families needing a backup tablet for communication, YouTube, and photo viewing, because it handles those everyday tasks well.

    JimJimBinksEvan55

  • Parents buying a kid a basic tablet, because it is cheap enough for simple apps and general use.

    batotmanctujackbauer

  • Shoppers who want a fast everyday tablet with lots of storage, because it feels snappy and 256GB is a big upgrade over 64GB.

    Evan55ctujackbauer

  • People wanting a wall-mounted family calendar, because it should work better than some smart displays for that role.

    doctorshusband

  • People who want long software support, because it is already mid-way through Apple's lifecycle and may stop getting updates in a few years.

    benbrm0batotmanAKS33

  • Gamers chasing demanding iPadOS titles, because it can run most modern games but not the really demanding ones.

    ctujackbauer

  • Buyers who need Apple Intelligence features, because this model does not support them.

    Vic121

  • Shoppers expecting a future-proof tablet, because its value may drop sharply once app updates stop.

Eh, a good iPad and a bit better than the 9th gen but no Apple Intelligence support due to SOC/RAM amount.

How does an average person run Apple Intelligence? These can run ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, etc..
I'm not sure what Apple Intelligence is..

Apple intelligence is a total bust that Apple is spinning to be a benefit since there has been so many busts during this AI boom...that sounds like a total oxymoron now I think about it.

But apple intelligence in the generic sense right now is stuff like photo editing, voice transcription, and summarizing emails...very basic stuff in 2026...and stuff you can do easily using free apps out there (that rely on cloud).

My kids use an iPad 7th Gen...a total dinosaur, but works fine for their usage. Duolingo kids, khan academy kids, and YouTube kids.

It's insurance against breakage if you buy a slightly older unit.

Is it even worth it? It's 4 years old
That's why they are getting rid of these. One more year and these will not be worth anything once they stop app updates

Priced at $500 locally. Do they need to scan to determine price? Or, can they just use their handheld in the Target number provided? Found two but not at $150.

This is an A14 chip, iPads with A12's are still current. For $150, if you can find it, this is as solid a tablet deal as you will find.
