Unsure of the usefulness of the hedge trimmer (18"). Seems under-powered for a decent size hedge trimming job

Is 18v powerful enough for weeds?

Expect to run out of juice quickly with 2ah. I have 4ah 18v and a 27k lot. I need about 2 batteries to finish.

Yea you would have to already be in the Ryobi ecosystem to make these work. the 2ah prolly ok for the hedge trimmers if you only have one hedge in the yard Stick Out Tongue

Nah hedge trimmer would have its place if you're just snipping off the green chutes. I did the ginormous hedge in front of my house that I wish didn't exist a few weeks ago using a 40v ryobi. It's probably the most fatiguing tool I own. Didn't take long for new growth to start popping up and that stuff would be easy to handle with an 18v. Just depends on what you have growing. Half the things on my 3 acres don't turn to woody stubborn growth very quickly and could be continuously shaped with an 18v.

I use a 4ah in my 18v ryobi string trimmer and barely knock a bar off of the battery. I have about 3/4 an acre of mowing area and it's entirely edged, with a 750sqft edged flower bed in the middle. I use the string trimmer on the LOW setting and can hit every bit of the edging and around 4 trees. I go quick though, and it took a while to not obliterate my lawn at that pace.

I got these and the weed wacker is way better than the old junk one I had. Hedger does acceptably on my few bushes.

Pair the string trimmer with a twisted pair string. FWIW 40v is powerful enough for grass edging and tough weeds without breaking a sweat.
