The Galaxy Watch 7 40mm is a compact smartwatch that covers the usual Samsung health and fitness features at a lower price than the Watch 8. It is praised for accurate ECG, blood pressure, sleep, and workout tracking, along with solid build quality and fast charging. The main drawback is battery life, which often means daily charging and can feel tight on the smaller 40mm model. This Bluetooth and Wi Fi version also needs a phone nearby, and some health features do not work with non Samsung phones, making it a practical pick if you can live with the charging routine.
Android phone owners who want a full-featured smartwatch, because it handles calls, ECG, blood pressure, sleep tracking, and workout tracking well.
Yes. The 40mm model is repeatedly described as needing daily charging, especially with most features turned on, though it charges quickly and usually only takes about 30 minutes. The smaller battery is the main reason the 40mm version is less convenient than the 44mm or LTE variants.
This deal is for the Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi model, so it needs a phone nearby to work fully. The LTE version can work more independently and can answer calls without the phone, but it requires a separate cellular plan.
No. ECG, Sleep Monitor, and Blood Pressure are reported to be blocked when the watch is paired with a non-Samsung phone, and the old workaround has been broken again since Wear OS 7.

Me and the wife each have one. It's decent will certainly do what you want. The battery doesn't last very long, especially with all (or even most) of the features turned on. They need to be charged daily, but they charge pretty fast so its only mildly annoying taking it off so often. Battery life is the biggest complaint across forums, but that is common among smartwatches. The only watches that last long run a neutered OS. I nabbed my 44mm standard version for $70 bones off marketplace. Hers is a 40mm LTE ebay Refurb for $105. Both have 85%+ battery life. Mine lasts a bit longer since the 44mm's battery is slightly bigger and it doesn't power an LTE antenna, but she can answer calls when she leaves her phone behind, which is dope. The Watch8 gets 50% brighter (3,000nits vs the 7's 2,000) which is better if you're outside alot. Also a faster processor and a larger battery, which I've read lasts about the same amout of time as the 7, since it is more power hungry. Plus that sqircle shape.

Anyone have a good experience with this watch? Tempted to just get this instead of 8. Just want basic features (ability to check texts, HR monitor).
I've had samsung watches. They seem to last a few years, meaning, they dont seem to function well after a few years or just stop working. Looking to Garmin watches at the moment.
This is the bluetooth/WIFI Model. So you need to have a phone nearby for it to work.... Instead, you can even get another phone number for $33/year with the LTE version for my son that I bought excellent condition for $100. I paired it with a burner phone (used unlocked Motorola Moto 5G) and bought a $33 plan with unlimited text, talk, but only 200MB data. https://www.ebay.com/itm/13684023...5379482596 I just use it to track my kids, and communicate with them, but don't allow them to get addicted to playing with the phone. The tricky thing is that you need to buy the proper charger. A 5V, 2.1 amp charger worked well for me, but some of my more powereful charges didn't work. You can frequently find a lightly used one for $100 on Ebay without the 2 year warranty.

Does the same as 8 but a lot cheaper, works great, need to charge daily 30 min or so. Has ecg, blood pressure and a lot more. Very accurate helps monitor my AFIB.

My wife had this watch. I can't say I'd recommend it as the battery life is terrible. It's a small watch, so it has a small battery. The screen is also a bit too tiny for some of the watch faces. I'd go with the 44mm minimum to get around those problems.
Otherwise it will do everything you described very well.

Well, the 8 has a much better battery life and a more efficient processor so you can actually get 2-3 days out of a charge on the larger watches. That alone was worth the upgrade.

This is a terrible choice if you just want basic features. You can get those basic features in a watch with much better battery life than the one to two days you'll get out of this. I'd check out something in the Amazfit or Garmin lines, their watches tend to have good battery life.

I love mine I just upgraded from the GW4 classic to the GW7 46 mm and it's a substantial improvement. I workout 4-5 times a week and the health features work great very accurate. I get 2 days of battery life no problem. The build quality is excellent as well a big upgrade from my previous watch. My brother was also impressed with the build quality compared to his Google pixel watch 3.
