I've owned this backpack for about 8 years now. After the first year one of the zippers broke, which was disappointing. Other than that though, it's been great for daily use. Fits my large laptop and a couple of notebooks in the main pocket.
Go to a North face store, tell them you want to file a warranty claim, then they will ship it to have your zipper fixed. Or file warranty claim on the website and ship it with your own money. Had a 10+ year old Recon that had peeling reflectors and a frayed handle, sent it to North face, and they sent my a gift card for the original value of the bag. I got it at an outlet for less than msrp.

small, horrendous zippers (most important part of any backpack), not the same quality as even 2-3 years ago let alone before COVID, you can do better for a little more $50-100 will get you something that makes this look like a cheap plastic Chinese toy, which it is. Want a better bag that is on sale for mother's day, get an Osprey Proxima for $60 (https://www.osprey.com/proxima-30-6). Osprey also has a much better warranty than North Face. There are tons of options/sizes at 40-50% off.

They ask for proof of purchase. Which is a hassle for fixing a $40 backpack tbqh

Got this on Woot for $27 last year and my gaming laptop does not fit in the padded sleeve, not even close.
The dimensions on mine say Exterior 11x8.5x18 (same as this one) and laptop sleeve 11.5x11.

I have one of the expensive ones from like two decades ago that I would love fixed. I can't believe they want proof of purchase.

Very basic. Lacks enough compartments. Much better bags available in this price range.

I had a Northface bag just like this and what nobody tells you is how heavy it is. I will say there is a lot of padding which is nice and gives the bag shape but maybe because it has so much padding it adds like 2 pounds to the weight of the bag. When i bought a newer/better and bigger bag i noticed the weight difference immediately and the new bag was so much lighter despite it being a bigger bag.

I'm a fan of Osprey as well. Got my teenager a Flare for school on sale at $50 and it's held up extremely well.
