Buckets are like $4 now. ITC members can go buy something for $1 and get a free bucket.

Inside Track Club

It's Harbor Freight's "exclusive" paid membership "club" to get free stuff and steeper discounts than the common window shopper. It's been a way for them to monetize the things we used to take for granted pre-pandemic (like 20% off coupons, free flashlights and screwdrivers, etc.). Enshittification at it's finest.

I know the economy is rough when I'm looking for a deal on a bucket, which cost a buck or two not too long ago.

Obviously you can buy a snap knife for $.79 or whatever they cost now, but the $2.99 bucket lid actually turns this into a 5 gallon sealed container which is not bad.

It's hard to see this as and shouldification. The pandemic and the insane tariffs from the orange moron have sent many retailers and importers reeling. I can't think of any stores that just give away free stuff anymore for walking in the door. And the ITC membership, all things considered, is a pretty good value. It costs about as much as two drinks at any bar or a couple of Happy meals. For me, it's provided value many times over, and it's one of the few extra payments that don't make me crazy :-)
