Bagsmart's 38L Blast Backpack comes across as a well organized travel bag that works especially well as a personal item and inflight carry. The top opens wide for easy access, it packs like a suitcase from the side, and the sturdy build and logical layout fit one bag travel well. The bundled compression cubes add real value, especially at the $29.97 clearance price. The main drawback is that the large compartment compression strap does not tighten much, and finding actual store stock can be difficult.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. The Costco Blast version has the compression-cube bundle and a top that opens around the entire top, while the Amazon version is sold as a different SKU with different branding and a different front-zip layout.

    CosmologicalConstantCosmologicalConstantDesertCoyoteNurse5736

  • The 4-piece packing cubes alone are estimated at about $10-$15, so the bundle is a strong value at $29.97. The backpack itself is also described as roomy and well organized, making the clearance price especially attractive.

    jtree1Nurse5736Nurse5736

  • Yes. The layout is described as very logical for one-bag travel, with the Costco version unzipping around the entire top so small items are easy to reach, especially on flights.

    LeoFLNurse5736scythen60

  • Yes. Several comments describe it as a last-unit or hidden clearance item, and app stock can be unreliable, so finding one in a physical warehouse is the main challenge.

    CosmologicalConstantCosmologicalConstantdwrd78

  • It can be used as a personal item on most airlines. The bag is also easy to access in-flight from the top or when laid on its side, which makes it practical for one-bag travel.

Good deal. The packing cubes alone are worth at least $10-$15 at a discount.

These are an amazing purchase. Bought a black instore at regular price and a navy one online at $64 and they are both worth every penny. My store has been out of these for a while but for anyone who can find at this sale price they are a no-brainer. Hold so much and love the way they pack more like a suitcase from the side. No negatives from my useage of them.

I echo this. I've been researching this for months. At $29.97 Costco is selling this at a loss. It costs Bagsmart a max of $25 to acquire from its factory in China which it sells to Costco at the wholesale price of ~$50+. Costco takes 12 to 18% margin and adds shipping which is why it is $64.99 online.

The $29.97 is-store is one of a kind price. Grab it fast. Unbelievable value.

The issue here is NOT the $29.97 price, but finding a physical Costco store that has any stock of it.

I was able to get the last one in my local Costco. Heck, at $29.97, I would buy 5 pieces! Yeah, it is that an incredible value. $64.99 online is pricey.

Agree; this is one heck of a deal. By the way, the last unit of the bag that I got was missing the compression cubes but I purchased the bag anyway.

Who knows if the online and physical store SKUs use different numbers?

Online only 2 colors are available but who knows if COSTCO will restock. The cream color is simply gorgeous. I dodn't know if it will get dirty, but even then it is washable so you can simply throw it into the washer.

YMMV in store only. Use the Costco inventory tool on the app to check pricing and availability. Only in the color Cream and Black which share the same sku. Item: 2011287

Amazon [amazon.com] has 20" BAGSMART Expandable Carry On Hard Shell Luggage (Black) for $35. Shipping is free.
The hardside version of it is now on sale at Amazon as a limited time sale in the cream color for $52.64. Capacity is 35L but when expanded can go to 42L. What is your opinion? The only downside, if any, I see is the weight which will be more than the softside.

Inventory showed that my local store had 4 but there were 0. I get it if 1, maybe 2, goes astray... but 4? It's not like these could slip thru cracks in the floor.

Looks like the hardside bag is slightly larger than some carry on requirements. If you can compress the bag 1/2 inch you would be OK.

When I asked if there were any more in my store they said the stock showed "-1" (minus 1). After my purchase, I suppose that went to - 2 (minus 2). Go figure! The one i found was the last piece and I was lucky to actually find it - there was no display for Bagsmart. Rather it was among other non-Bagsmart bags and I only noticed it since I was looking for Bagsmart to begin with.

I anticipate that the online $64.99 Bagsmart will soon be on sale....on May 16, 17 or 18 as a COSTCO "Hot Buy" which Artificial Intelligence predicts will be $49.99 or $54.99. If it misses that window, it will likely be a Hot Buy in the next window beginning from June 12 or 16.
